Aww, and I only had $48 000 to spend on a new Corvette. Looks like I'll have to go someplace else to get a better performance deal. Oh wait, I can't because there isn't a better performance deal. Well that and I don't have $48 000.

head in the sand? Or smart business move?

Raising the price 1.5k on a car who's buyers will buy anyways only means more money for them. This could also be to help cover increased prices in metals, etc; which is still a smart move.

Welcome to the wonderful world of inflation. It doesn't stop just because the Dow dropped. Oh, and I think the market drop is an overreaction. Wait out the panic. Prices now have nearly no relevance at all to earnings.

They just raised the prices when the 2009's began production in June or July, the plant will be closed next week for the first time ever, other than the usual July shutdown, due to bulging inventory.

When they come back, the assembly line will be slowed down from 18.5 units an hour, to 15 units per hour. They layed-off 75 people at Bowling Green. Now they raise prices again, after a few months.

The Corvette was always recession proof - not this time.

The Corvette is underpriced compared to the competition in that category. Corvette buyers will buy Corvettes anyway.

The Camaro can't get a price increase that makes it significantly more expensive than the Mustang. It just wouldn't be feasible for GM. The Camaro is designed to compete with the Mustang, so it must be priced accordingly.

Yeah, the corvette is designed to compete with much, much, much more expensive cars. So i don't see a problem with the corvettes msrp going up.
but it is Not good for me, because i am an average joe here thats broke as f%$#, and i live for the day i bring a corvette home.:(

This does give them more freedom to increase the initial price of the Camaro. Don't forget, Mustang has just recently announced a price increase as well.
