Why do Mustang owners have so much hate towards Camaro owners?

I know I take the watch dog role around here. But I truly do like all three cars. I'm a Chevy guy so I lean bowtie. But I can easily see myself in a mustang or Chally.

but they would have to do some serious work to get me in one while I can own a chevy.

Some days I log in here and see the word Mustang more than Camaro.

In this section fine. But even in other sections. I'm not the least bit threatened by the donkey. Like I allways said, if I were rich I'd get my brother a Chally, myself a Camaro, and my sister a Mustang. LMAO

Sometimes times i think its the way a persons raised almost genetic . Coming from a ALL bowtie family , owning a ford would be a sin!

no hate from me on either the camaro or mustang coming from the challenger camp. i wish i could own one of each! camaro would be my second choice though if there was no challenger, for sure.

My buddy has an 04 Azure Blue Mach I. It is truly a muscle car and I love it. He loves my Camaro. It's the way it should be. I think at times many of us feel the need to defend our cars against some smack talk, or just flat out misinformation about our cars.

It's been that way since 1967.

It's the same as Michigan "hating" Ohio State, or The Red Socks "hating" the Yankees, etc. It's just the way it is .........

That's true, but if you actually get to know the people it's not like this. Well, assuming you become friends. Like I said in an earlier post, I have a buddy with a Mach I and also my neighbor is an Ohio St. fan. I bleed maize and blue, but we are very good friends. Of course, that doesn't mean we don't bust each other's chops.

My experience is they don't hate us.. Yesterday a Yellow Mustang came flying up behind us on the Interstate in NC, and then when he got beside us He looked over and waved and smiled.. He then backed off and fell in behind us, after about 5 miles he just got off the highway...
Also had the same experience with a Challenger yesterday.. I think they both respect the Camaro for what it is, V6 or V8.

I think the better title for your thread would have been, "Why do SOME Mustang owners have so much hate toward Camaro owners."

I will agree with others who basically said, welcome to reality. Most people have specific reasons why they like what they like, others just know that they like something without being able to provide someone else with an explanation. It is also a classic case of nurture versus nature. If you were raised by parents/family who believed that one brand is superior to another, then you are very likely to hold similar values. It's not unlike how people choose their favorite sports team or their religious beliefs.

I think "hate" is a pretty strong word to use. Yes, there has always been a lot of back and forth between fans of both cars (not unlike what occurs with folks and their sports teams) but that is usually just fun-and-games. Unfortunately, some people get too serious about the subject and that is when brand loyalty begins to go awry.

If so, that ranks as one of the most asanine things I continually hear. Is there some special club you have to be a part of in order to buy a Camaro? If not, and the person believes the Camaro is something to be jealous of, then why would they not just go out and buy a Camaro?

The Mach 1's are very cool!

Just a piece of trivia... Scott Hoag from MRT is the man behind the 03/04 Mach 1 (and the 2001 Bullitt). He is a former program manager from Ford that started his own company, MRT... He is a true automotive enthusiast... and while his business it focused mainly on Mustangs, he definitely has a lot of respect for the Camaro and has given me a lot of support in tweaking mine!

Pretty sure it was just a joke. Which leads to another problem. It's hard on the internet to get a feel for how a post was truly intended.

There are also those from the other camp that just have to correct every little misconception that is posted on the interwebs concerning their car...

They are equally guilty of missing the joke as the fanboys are.....

All of us should be able to give credit where credit is due.

Camaro guys should be able to say things like:
"The Challenger did a better job of sticking to it's roots."
"Give the mustang some credit for being able to run with the Camaro with less power."

Mustang guys should be able to say things like:
"Well we don't rule the streets anymore. The Camaro is no joke."
"The Challenger is a better combination of power and comfort than the Mustang is."

Challenger guys should be able to say:
"The 5th gen camaro is pretty damn good for its first year back."
"Give credit to the mustang for staying alive while Camaro and Chally were on vacation."

Notice that anyone from either of the car camps should be able to say any of the comments above. If you can say those in public to another car guy... Then you are not part of the problem.

If you feel compelled to reply with a sentence that begins with "yeah but..." when you hear any of these statement.... you may be part of the problem.
