Either way we got side tracked. what I said was the 03 and 04 were great cars and still will out run a camaro. I didn't have my 2010 long enough to see ,but my buddy that bought it off of me says my camaro is no contest and I would agree from the little bit I drove it and rode in it.
Do you have the twin turbo's on yours?

I wouldn't say no contest, it would be close. Like a tenth or two close...

Well, for me at the time it wasn't worth it that much for the looks I was gaining in the camaro for the price difference. I just couldn't get past what they did to the back end of the mustang. I now see I can fix the rear end looks and their greatly improving the regular GT. Plus, I can keep my camaro because I'm not dropped $48,000 the the regular GT.

Yes, I do.

Based on what? What you read in a magazine somewhere. Let's do this, instead of taking two random performance numbers, let's take the very best time we know of for a 2010 SS Camaro on stock tires and the very best time we know of for a 2010 GT500 on stock tires and compare those numbers.

2010 Camaro 12.61 @ 111.60
2010 GT500 11.95 @ 120.29

That's .66 seconds in E.T (6-7 car lengths) and 8.69mph. I guess you could call that close if you want to, but most would consider that "no contest".

Just for reference:

0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds
Quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 111 mph

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SVT_Cobra

Most stock SS's are running 13.3 average in the 1/4 with a one off high 12 here and there.

.4 tenths is a pretty good distance at the end of a 1/4 mile.

111MPH = 162.8 feet per second

.4 = ~65feet

2010 Camaro is roughly 15 feet in length.

About 4 car lengths by the end of the track given identical conditions and optimal driving. That is a pretty good spanking in my book.

This is comparing a 13.3 to a 12.9.

Is that a custom thing or something you can buy? My buddy is looking to make his faster. Like they aren't already fast enough in stock form. LOL

Honestly? I much as I've defended the GT500 on these forums as being far ahead of SS, you should know I was talking about the Terminators. Take one of these and breathe.

The best time I've heard for a Cobra is a 12.4 and the Camaro is standing at a 12.6 (so far, after not even a year of it being out compared to the Terminator's like 6 years), so that's about two tenths. That's pretty close IMO.

I know what you meant and I agree. I guess our what to call them post started the GT500 thing. I don't even consider them because their in a much higher price bracket. I tell my buddy all the time if GM would slap a supercharger on the camaro , call it a Yenko and charge 50 grand then we could compare.

Back to the op ,I still like a solid axle as far as a drag stand point.

Yes. Just have him call Hellion Power Systems, they can hook him up with a kit.

I think ford took the solid axle REALLY far and they can pretty much hang with IRS's with the track packs etc... they got alot out of the solid rear axle, and if you read up on mustangs most people do not want IRS.

When Falcon/Mustang become combined on one platform, they'll be getting an IRS setup. However, you have to realize that most people on automotive forums are the minority, and probably don't reflect the wants of the majority of consumers.

a majority of consumers don't know what they want and are just looking for something that looks pretty.
