I've street raced 3 times, and been in a bunch while ridding with my brother. And no one has cussed either of us out just wanting to race. Just seems a little odd that a person would get that upset over someone not wanting to race him lol.

I try to go about my own business when Im off duty but it never fails that some punk kid or some ass with a chip on his shoulder always tries to start something. Most citizens ignore it to avoid a confrontation and are afraid to say something.

At risk of being flamed, I agree with a_Username. The same thinking kinda goes for people in general though. I'll respect them and be friendly until they show that they deserve otherwise. Back to what I was saying about police 'showing their true colors'. Pulled into the gas station one day, 2 cop cars sitting outside, one not quite pulled in to a parking spot. As I stop by the fuel pump, I see an officer get in the car to re-park the vehicle so its not in the way. In doing so, he stomps on it in reverse and squeals his tires, then parks it. Had I done that same thing with a cop around, you'd bet I would at least get warned. So what gives him the right to do it? Anywho, thats just one cop so I don't judge the rest of them in my town by that. The few that have pulled me over had legitimate reasons and were usually pretty cool.

About a month ago I was driving down the highway and I saw a Porsche pass me at high speed in the far right lane (in moderate traffic). I lost sight of him for a few seconds, then noticed he was in the far left lane. At that point I was thinking "those are the guys that cops really need to nail" and not a second after I thought that I saw the flashing lights up ahead. Sure enough, it was the jackass in the Porsche that was pulled over. This was about 5 minutes after I had an umarked cruiser beside me pull over the car infront of him.

At the first window roll down he should of ID himself as a cop and put an end to it.

If between the first window n roll and the end, someone got killed cause he was more interested in seeing how many ticket he could get him on….. The story would be way different.

Even off duty cops should be more concerned with pro-active measures.

Waiting to see if they're just driving a little stupid or really dangerous and coming down on them if they're really dangerous is a valid approach IMO. You could argue another style is better but this is the kind of penalty that can cause someone to re-think their driving habits while a badge flash is easy to shrug off after a few hours.
