Great story.

Not too long ago, I was a country road with my wife and some idiot in a RX8 was tailgating, crossing over the center line and honking the horn. I just let this dude and his idiot friends in the Subaru station wagon and s2k go by when it was safe. If they want to race each other and drive off the road into Encinal Canyon, that's fine with me. And the ricers wonder why cops pull them over all the time.

LEOs, don't let criticism stop you from doing your jobs. Some ppl might think you're being a dick, but I think you're saving lives.

I have one thing to say to the people that said he should ID himself before his partner was there.

Haven't you ever heard of people having fake lights and badges pulling people over writing fake tickets? where I'm from back in the 90's we had someone doing that on the interstate. this dude seriously had issues and I'm not sure of all the details but that's the main point.

personally if someone in an "unmarked" car tried pulling me over I wouldn't until I found some place with people. and I'm no p**** but I do like to be alive.

What HE wrote to end the thread...

Quote:
I may be praised and I will be bashed. This is the internet. Everyone has their opinion. What some people fail to realize is that traffic stops are only the tip of the iceberg of what we do. Some people however think that's ALL WE DO because the most interaction we have with people are on the road stopping people.

You don't see the psychos we deal with, you don't see the inhumanity that people do to each other, you don't see the pain and suffering out there. I have seen stuff that made me want to not come back to work but I still do. This for one does not stop my resolve for one second.

I'm still going to go to work, I am still going to make money, I am still going to do my job how I see fit. What I do on my personal time is my time. This is probably the last story I will share regarding the things I do at work, seeing as how it can cause so much uproar. With that said.. mods please end this thread...

It infuriates me as getting a case becomes more important, then nipping it in the bud.
Sometimes waiting years to gather evidence while they sell drugs to kids.
But getting a case is more important then being pro-active.

Anyone in any type of law enforcement should be pro-active first.

I would not pat anyone on the back who did that.
Someone could have been killed and that was not more important then getting more tickets on him.

I've "badged" someone on the road before in my personal vehicle in a similar situation (not in my Camaro). What did it lead to...the other driver sitting in the lane next to me as we were driving having a verbal sparring situation through the windows. This created a way worse situation than having someone in a marked car, with the proper equipment, waiting for the offender to stop them and properly handle the situation. We don't all carry guns off-duty, most of us try to mind our own business when we are not working. We don't call/stop everyone that drives by us for speeding, has an equipment violation, etc. I will probably never "badge" someone again as a result. After thinking about the situation, it wasn't the smartest thing to do on my part from a tactical standpoint.

BUT... I would probably (and have in similar situations) flashed my badge at people and told them to knock it off when they start acting stupid like this.
Thats awesome, If for some reason u see my IOM 5th gen in SJ , i would appreciate a badge flash then a ticket tooo. LOL

I wasn't going to post this, but I swear I've read this same story once before.

It has all the right makings of an urban legend. Maybe it is true... but still it seems familiar to me, as if it was in one of the many emails that someone just learned how to send email, started by forwarding a story like this to me.

Even off duty cops should be more concerned with pro-active measures.
sounds like he was just active enough to avoid any serious conflict that would have created more problems for that kid.
Down here in the South he would have only made the mistake of using that kind of language 1 time. he would have had his car shot up at the next red light. people like this do not deserve to have a drivers lic.

So, how am I showing my true colors and how am I corrupt? I said nothing that was corrupt or bad in any way! I stated the facts but its okay to again try to make us look like the bad guys. It figures........
By the way the Sheep, the Wolf and the sheep Dog was actually written by a Retired military Officer. So again how was anything that was said POLICE CORRUPTION? You have no clue what you are talking about.
"Are you a police officer?" You obviously are the one with a chip on your shoulder. "That's why we are sheep dogs, brave and fierce..." That's just as egotistical as you can get. You probably got the Ego from the Badge/Gun, which is where you are corrupted by the power of authority. No the cop was not the bad guy. He should of just handled the situation a little differently.

So let's take away his driver's license because he tried to street race somebody, or let's just shoot him at the next red light ? Let's all be honest here, I would guarantee that EVERYONE that has posted so far has been in a street race before. How would it feel if some guy gave you ticket after ticket after ticket, just because you wanted to race? Now admittedly the kid kept running his mouth, but I would put money on the kid shutting up if he just saw a badge. If this was not the case, the cop should have had him pulled over and gave him tickets for Illegal Street Racing, etc. However, some of those tickets are just there to make up for his hurt pride.
