I agree the ute would need a few design tweeks, bu I see a market for it. As the new Ford Transit is a more fuel efficient delivery van, put the DI V6 in an Elcamino, buff up the payload, sell it for around 23k with a 6 speed auto and you have a fuel efficient work truck, then the V8 model for some hoonage. Wasn't their goal with the G8ST only like 10k a year? With a V6 option I see this as more than capable of meeting that goal.

just call the "4 doorcorvette/g8 " a chevelle and we're good
and why not at the el camino...would be great for hauling stuff and for people who deliever auto parts...just add in a cover to take care of weather and it could be a commercial type car that would do well and can sell in limited quanities to the great people who wear mullets down south in the heartland baby

That G8's look is really starting on me. Not a big fan of the rear view though.

The SSR was completely impractical, unlike the Ute.

Agreed. The Ute/El Camino is only somewhat impractical in today's market. A Canyon or Colorado would make more sense.

![]() GM needs something to go up against the Tacoma. I'm sure if they brought the S-10 back and put the same effort the put into the Silverado it would be a hit. Only problem I see with that is GM would need an updated small engine to put in it, seems that I5 they had didn't cut it. Pretty silly a full size Silverado got better fuel economy. I don't see why they don't do what they did with the old 4.3; take a Gen IV smallblock and cut two cylinders off. |
