And this is just raw technical data. The Z is the more enjoyable car to drive, it feels much more balanced, and has that very cool rev-match manual.

Not to mention the interior materials used in the Z are light years ahead of that in the mitsu.

The Evo is a great performance car, but its not top 3.... unless we are weighing performance/practicality.
Hold up, I thought the MR was the better Evolution X? I thought it also had a slightly upgraded suspension compared to the GSR.

I'm glad it's that way too. It needs to be that way, considering it would be boring for the consumer to have the choice of 3+ cars that are basically the same. Different companies take different directions to get different results.

The MR is the more expensive Evo which has an upgraded suspension and autobox. It might put up marginally better skid-pad numbers, but it is heavier (with no more power) resulting in it being considerably slower.

If you'd rather compare this to the 370z, be my guest. I think you will find that the GSR compares more favorably.

Apparently the Top Gear episode I watched state one of the Evolution X's he had pushed out 360 HP, and the other one like 310. That must be like Japanese models or something, but it's irrelevant now. How much heavier are we talking about here?

That version is not sold in the US.

I think that was from a tuner shop, sorta like the ZL-575 Camaros.

bottom line is that your gonna have 2 fantastic cars at roughly the same pricing and roughly same performance. mustang will prolly be more fun taking corners and such and camaro will prolly be more fun in a straight line. nothing wrong with that. mustang will sound better while camaro will look more like a classic muscle car.

its all up to your personal taste guys. just buy the car you want and have fun. none of us are race car drivers.

One of the most balanced things a Mustang owner can ever say......

Just a thought, but it is worth noting IMO. A developmental mule kept up with the M3 over six months ago. Ford kept tweaking the handling specs on the 2011 Mustang until the very last minute. You never know....and what a coupe that would be.

I think I'm buying this. My local dealer has one on their lot, and let me tell you these pic's dont do it justice. I am going in tomorrow for a test drive. I just thought I'd throw that out there.

It is impressive enough that the Mustang could hang with the M3 over any stretch of track... but we don't know how long they raced, and for how many laps.

I would like nothing more than to have a 35k American alternative to the M3, but I just don't see it happening.... and for the record, I don't think the GT could have hung with the M3 over a longer period of time with good drivers.... but who knows. The 5.0L has a lot of potential.
