I for one am extremely glad they are NOT using the Camaro. Nascars cars aren't representative of stock cars at all. The only thing that designates one as a Chevy, Ford , etc, is the sticker grille, headlamps and taillamps. The Camaro would not be the Camaro we know and love. They should change the name of the racing because these are hardly stock cars.

I know a lot of guys here disagree, but I believe that NASCAR may be the worst example of racing out there. The products raced are limited to 4 manufacturers, and the only track style is a giant oval. Yes—the drivers are skilled, but there are much better ways to demonstrate skill. I'd rather see road courses.

For me its a very accessible high speed event. So I enjoy it a lot. I can't get to a Formula 1 event or afford an IRL event, so I enjoy going to NASCAR when I can.

But yes, the series would be better if more manufacturers were involved. If you add road courses I don't think that would make it better, because the cars would go barely fast enough to make it entertaining.

None of the parts on the outside or inside of the NASCAR cars are representative of anything made by our Big 3 manufacturers anyhow. NASCAR is its own world. And now they have even silenced the announcers by telling them they cannot speak negatively about the NASCAR organization (as a result of the announcers slamming them over the Talledega race). NASCAR will self destruct. There are no more sold out races and its not just because of the economy.

How many manufacturers are in IRL? F-1? Seems that I remember several have pulled out over the last few years... Nascar is courting Honda and Nissan to submit a car for approval...
Worst example of racing in my opinion is F-1..

I want Buick back in NASCAR, and since Poncho is out, Id like to see Buick replace all the Poncho's on the other types of tracks.

Maybe it's because the Mustang will get that mpg with the stick and auto and the Camaro only get's that with the auto and AFM oh and a drop in hp.

I'm not saying F-1 is a good racing example either. Maybe there's a market available where NASCAR is obviously failing. Some people really like NASCAR, and that's good for them, but that's not the whole racing market. In a country as big as the US, there's room for another racing organization. I would like to see road races with products that resemble both in body and performance. I never understood the function of having the same race at every oval-shaped track. Make it interesting. Give me one oval and a bunch of courses that test every limit from top speed to handling of the cars driven. NASCAR tests the driver very well. The driver must be smart about fuel and steady at the wheel. I want to see drivers pull turns left and right on curvy roads with opportunities to push both pedals to the floor. I'm not saying that I could be a NASCAR driver, but I know that I can turn left. Show me something that I know for a fact that I cannot trust myself to do on a course.

NASCAR does road corse tracks, you just don't see them on national TV, all on pay channels. Cept for the 1 in Canada.

I'd rather watch something for free. They can't have my business or the business of their other critics until they change accordingly.

But can you trust yourself to turn left at 200 mph, 2" from the car beside you and in front of you with someone banging on your back bumper??

Its cause the TV fans just want the ovals, road course doesn't get the same viewer ship so they don't get prime time, only pay channels will run it.

#1 problem is being able to see.

Problem I got with the 1 Canada track, every years they miss everything.
Crash is done over and we got to see squat.

On the ovals we can get 150% TV coverage and not miss a thing, very easy to see all the action.

Though its not all oval, why else does irl or f1 not get the same viewer ship, its oval, as open wheel drivers avoid each other, don't / can't bump n rub on each or their cars fall apart.

NASCAR is a blood sport, open wheel is is like a slap fight.

If you have cable you can get them ALL...ESPN, FOX, ABC, SPEED, one of these will carry every Nascar Cup, Nationwide and Truck series race, none are pay channels here..
