Yup.

My point, though, is that they don't know. And we are being ruled and governed as if they DO know.

I put my faith somewhere else.

There is some validity to some of the research.

But lets transport back in time to 10,000 years ago. If we had come into the industrial age 10,100 years ago, and started data collection, we would have been in a major tizzy about the ice caps, which at that time stretched well down into the lower 48 states.

There are natural trends in weather, it is very cyclic, but the truth of the matter is that as mentioned, it is best Guess at best... Weather forcasting has improved in the last 100 years, but is it perfect science, certainly not.
Are we to put all our eggs in one basket based on the same science guessing the trends for the next 5, 10, 100, 2000 years. I won't.

Sure I'll do my part based on current science to try and preserve what we have but how do we know we are not doing the wrong thing right now. The dust bowl was a prime example of people intervention into nature... Look at the changing coast lines due to people intervention.

Those that fail to study history are doomed to repeat those failings...I'm not saying we do the exact same things, but we need to learn that we may not always have the correct answers... all we have is the best current science available...

i laughed hysterically at a co-worker just prior to Y-2K. He and his father bought huge diesel generators and large fuel tanks to put at their houses... He said he was ready... I asked for what, he said at midnight on the 31st, all computers are going to shut down and life as we know it would end... He stocked up on food, fuel and ammunition... So I asked him which mid-night would this occur...he repeated the 31st... Ok, GMT, EST, CST, MST, PST, etc........ uhmm, well it will happen here..... whatever... so I guess there will be 24 individual catastrophies around the world... What good is the generator when diesel is no longer available....

Population control isn't as far off as you might think

So what's next? Population control? Maybe so, but 10,000 years from now maybe it won't matter anyway.
We're about 1,000 years from the next scheduled ice age. 10,000 years from now, the world will look a lot like it does today.

There are a lot of legit scientists looking closely at all of the data. Man did not make global warming. Man made global warming worse. Sadly, the high-paid fools who disagree with scientific proof are a very loud, politicized majority. Because they are loud, they get equal representation in the media. Because they are politicized, they have the support of very selfish individuals who will ultimately profit from the deaths of hundreds of millions of people nationwide when some nations go underwater, including much of the United States. These consequences are unavoidable.

Basically, man will change the Earth's equilibrium. How much remains unknown. No one can do experiments on proportions large enough to represent the entire world, so all we have is well-supported theory.

lol as I was reading this I was thinking about how I need to buy a mountain house or something.... and then remembered I won't have to worry about that 1,000 years from now.

A similar thing happened in my experience, though not with somebody I knew. The house my mom currently lives in was owned by a couple and their three daughters, who decided - along with most of their relatives - that y2k was going to be the end of the world. So, they sold their house (to my parents), paid off all of their debt, and moved three families into one trailer home in order to be ready to die with no debt and no possessions.

Last I heard they were living in town in a house about half the size of the one they sold my mom, on no land (my mom's is 2.5 acres).

Call me extreme. But I will dicourage my kids from having kids. Then if they choose, that's fine but this world is gonna get really crappy. My only hope for my grandchildren is that they won't know what they missed because they will have grown up in the new crappy world.

It has been told to us that global warming would have led to many deaths and catastrophic global sea risings within 50 years from 10 years ago. Now all of a sudden it's a mini ice-age.

I see what you are saying and that's fine, but we are being governed in a manner as if they knew for a fact what was happening. Scare tactics and such. I'm just saying it pisses me off. If they were so serious about it, why don't we force the rest of the world into compliance?

I know what you mean, and I am not 100% sure that I am going to live in the US for all that long if things go to shit.

I wouldn't mind moving to a country which is basically care free... I'm thinking New Zealand

Please do not quote me, but I believe i read somewhere that the first recorded mentioning of this statement was by Aristotle,,,
"What is this world coming to"

It has been repeated over and over and over through the eons.

We can't predict the future, we certainly can't control it... All we can do is live based on the best science we can get ahold of... Whats junk science and whats legitimate... who knows... As mentioned before, government grants and private contributions drive much of it...

It's all a bunch of CRAP!!, NOBODY knows what the future will be, I don't care how many studies are done Nature is unpredictable.. just because something happend 1 million years ago does not mean it will happen that way again.. Hell 75 percent of the time they can't even get tomorrow's weather right, how the hell can they tell us what is going to happen 100 to 1000 years from now..

I will believe it when i see it.!!!!

It woulld be nice to have beachfront property in Tennessee LOL....
