Me, I don't pay much attention to recruiting classes. It's all hit and miss when they come out of high school. You can only judge a recruiting class once those players actually start playing, not when they sign. I feel the same way about the NFL draft as well. All these "experts" tell you who "won" and who "lost" in the draft before the draftees have even played a single down in the NFL. Wait a few years and see whose draft picks panned out.

I agree with you there. But so far so good with Saban's recruits. Rivals ranked them number 1 in 2008 and 2009 and they just won the big one.

Yup, I know its 2010. I also know Alabama will be off NCAA probation in 2012, and off the Repeat Violator Window in 2014. Unless they get caught cheating again, of course.

But Mack Brown also had top-ranked recruiting classes early in his tenure and he did not win a NT until later in his tenure. Simms was the top HS QB coming out of high school, and he could never win big games.

He had the top ranked recruiting class in 2002 and followed up with the NT with those recruits.

Dude, I am a forth generation graduate of UT, I support the Longhorns when times are good and bad! I have no "severe pain" about the Horns loss. I am very proud of the way they played - they are holding their Horns high.

My comment was about McElroy quote;

So, McElroy thinks that no other QB could step in and hand the ball off to Ingram and Richardson, Ok!!!!

I know a ton about recruiting.... obviously a lot more than you, seeing as last years top class was LSU and the year before that was Miami.

I'm not sure it was the top class. Again, recruiting is not my thing.

I do know alot of Longhorn fans were not happy he was winning "Recruiting Titles", but not National Titles before 2005.

Emmit had a line, a quarterback, and a boat load of recievers... What did Barry have... and this is from a Dallas fan...Yes Emmit performed well, but with the cast he had, most any running back would have... Barry could/would have set records that would probably never be touched...

but I digress, this is a NCAA thread... Sorry...I just have this question in mind every time I see Emmits name pop up...
