I've seen a few paint jobs here in town and while the friend's only spent ~$500-1000.00 for the work, most of them were fading within a year or two.

but they were all done at the same shop here in town which is known for lacking of quality.

the best way to describe is its a paint job to get you by for just a bit until you can get a real, high quality paint job.
thought about for about 3 sec for my 78 camaro. then snapped back to reality.
i'll never suggest it. unless the vehicle is just a point A to B kind of thing.

they can do really great work, but often times, if doing a full body paint (as in painting the whole car) they will only put down a coat or two of paint and a coat or two of clearcoat. but it is def a get what you pay for type thing.

I had them quote me to paint my 94Z

outside paint only, (no engine bay or interior) was going to be $800 with minimal prep.

to paint the entire car inside and out was going to run me $1700 and I'd have to pull the engine before I brought the car to them.

now, a very good friend of mine who lives in Kansas and paints for a living, has quoted me at $4800 for full bodywork (got a few dimples), prep and full inside, outside and underneath paint.

and I plan on having him do it. if I dont primer the car myself completely and call it a day.

Here's a few shots of his 95Z28 with an LS1 front conversion w/front gfx. painted by him. he's a bit of a perfectionist, but it pays off.

If it's something you want to dump really quick then it would be ok. I'd never have them do anything that I want to drive and keep.

It would be a 97 wrangler. Gonna do all body work. Not gonna do maaco, just wondering, wonder how much a pretty nice job would run. After my brother finishes emt and gets job he wants an 07ish diesel ram and the jeep would be a fun car eventually getting a vortec v8

I'd 2nd Zieke on this one. They aren't the best though there are worse out there. It's pretty much a budget job after a rebuild or something like that. IMO, primer the whole thing and have them put down a layer of light gray. Clear it three times and then leave it until you have the cash to do as Spike said.

I'd do it with a 3rd gen just because A) it'd fit my budget and B) it wouldn't look out of the ordinary on a 3rd gen rebuild with a high rise cowl induction hood.

well i got a guy who lives near my place back home to give me a quote.
hes a professional. been doing restorations, and paint jobs forever.

to do all of the body work, taking off the original paint, and preping for the new paint himself. plus ordering a few panels/ and or repairing some, such as the front of my car.
It would be around 10 grand.
the quality he promised was that of a show car. seen a few he has and they are amazing.

the color was also a custom golden like copper i showed him. which added to the price.

but in the end. its how good you want it that will determine the price.

Actuallly I did have Macco paint a car once. I did most all the sanding myself, and the areas that I did held up the best. Then I was out of hurt for some time and didn't (couldn't) take care of it properly. Overall, you do get what you pay for, but I wouldn't dismiss 'em out of hand either. Having said that, there's no way in hell they're touching my Camaro...for ANYTHING!!!

Ive had them do my first car ever like 12 years ago.

Good enough for a nice daily driver or something.... but if you have a NICE car that you need a body work or repaint done... go elsewhere.

I had them paint my 3rd gen back when I had it. I would not let them do it again. They don't sand the car down, they just acid etch the car to get the paint to adhere. The paint lasted 2 years before it started to chip and peel off. It was a complete waste of money and is only good if you are selling the car immediately afterwards.
