What was your first computer?

Mine was a Commodore Vic-20 with a Data set which was a magnetic tape drive. I had an 11 bit modem to go with it and the only host sites I could reach with it were long distance. If I wanted a game I would type it in from a magazine and there were always typos so you had to figure out what was missing. Either that or spend a couple of hours downloading something long distance with that super awesome modem.

Colecovision Adam.

I still have that in the basement. I loved the high speed tape drives.
I remember entering programs from Family Computing Magazine.

+1 - though I donated it long ago. It was ahead of its time and I too remember entering programs stored on tape.

The first work computer was an AT&T PC 6310 (as I worked for AT&T) with dual floppies - I added a whopping 10MB HD Card, an internal modem card and over-clocked the CPU myself.

First real computer at home was a Macintosh PowerBook 145. I still have the first Newton, works only when plugged in as even fresh batteries don't provide enough juice for it. Compared to my iPhone its like something from the dark ages of mobile computing - much like a Windows Mobile device

When I consider my 2008 iMac 24" Core Duo running Leopard its amazing how far we've come and how much more we'll realize in the future.

I don't remember what it was, but I remember the year was 1981, because I was in the 8th grade.

I'm 39 years old and my first computer was in 1998.

Can't remember the specs but it ran windows and was a laptop.

I watched my brother fight with his and I just passed on the frustration. I never really needed one. I used them at various jobs but everything was very simple.

I had a vic 20 as well, then thought OMG this is great when I got the commodore 64!!!

Could you image computers in 100 years? or what will they have in 1000 years.
