Congratulations GM, You've done it again!

This year we were asked to help our country, and help General Motors by purchasing an American made GM car.
I went to the dealership and bought a brand new 2009 Pontiac.

Today General Motors announced a "Fire Sale" selling off all remaining Pontiacs and Saturns at a "deep" discount, as much as 46% off the original sticker price.

Well, I would like to thank GM for turning my resale value into nothing more than a JUNKBOND!

First they take away the GMS discount so they can "make money", and then they take my 2009 GM car with a MSRP of $25910 and instantly give it a resale value of $10,000!

What the hell is GM doing?

I just don't think I can support a company that doesn't support it's employees or those of us buying thier cars.

If you really cared about a car keeping its high resale value you wouldn't be buying a GM product other then a Vette or Caddy, because all other cars aren't going to get you much. And if you are buying a car because of resale value then the joke is on you. I could care less about resale value because I'm not getting rid of my car, only when the wheels and suspension fall off together will I declare her dead.

Joke is on you! The only person to make money on selling cars is the manufacturer!
Though it still really sucks about the resale...

and in good news, Pontiacs are cheap right now!

I'm not about to tell you the jokes on you. Like I always tell the wife and kids. They aren't ever doing you a favor because they aren't in the favor buisness. I do know what your talking about ith resale though. I keep a car maybe 5 yrs. And usually have enough paid off to carry over for a decent trade in value. When they pull sh** like what your talking about it hurts any chance of me giving them my buisness. I've got a 07 solstice that I paid 32k for I owe about 15 on it now but if I went to use it for a trade in they would give me squat. Man when it comes to sales it everyone for them self. Always has always will

I mean really what did you expect to happen with a car division thats being axed. You couldn't ever really thought a dead brand would mean high resale value.

well.... maybe if it was a rare car or something. But yeah, the company was getting axed, you should have figured that those kind of discounts would be coming down the pipe sooner or later. Maybe once all the Pontiac's and such are sold off your resale value will go back up?

Uhh...we still get an employee discount buddy. It's just pinched massively, as it has been for a while now.

And exactly when did you buy your Pontiac?

What did you expect? If you bought a Pontiac or Saturn before you knew they were getting shut down, that sucks, but if not you had to know these discounts would eventually come.

The resale value will only be hurt as long as the new vehicles are still available on the lot. After all the inventory are sold, the resale value is going to be much more market driven. If it was worth good money before the fire sale and there are no more new ones to be had at the "fire sale" price, the used ones should hold value again. The orphan status of Pontiacs, Saturns and other abandoned brands is going to cause some dimunition in value just because they are discontinued products but that is unrelated to the fire sale.

Resall valuve will skyrocket with time if you bought a cool car,[if you bought a mini van well jokes still on you.] if it is a cool car put the thing in a plastic bubble and double your cars in 30 years whe you own a low mile classic.

You can bet collectors will be snagging up the deals on the cool cars to park it for resale in the future.

Though member Poncho isn't really dead, Poncho will be a limited production line or so GM has said.

Hello 2012 Firebird/TA

If I could find a 2009 G8 GXP, I'd buy it and never let it leave the garage.
