What is that I hear.........the recruiter phones ringing at UT,OU,USC, and Bama, "Coach, is it to late to change my mind". Thank you Mr. Meyer for helping other schools in their recruiting!!!!

My brother and I were joking that he should have waited till after signing day


Edit: there are a few articles out this morning that seem to run an interesting direction.... the recruits that are committed seem to be putting pressure on the other committed recruits, to stay with UF. Our top 3 have yet to to say much, but it seems like the mood is optimistic because Meyer will still be with the program, and he has a hand in choosing his replacement.

Landing Muschamp will all but lock up Hicks, the best OLB in this class who is down to UF and Texas, bringing in Mullen will keep our offensive guys firm, and bringing back charlie strong will do the same for the D.



But in the scheme of things it makes more sense for him to do this now... to lock down an A+ coach you need to get to them before they all work for someone else

Muschamp isnt going anywhere lol hell he makes 900,000 already for us its already been said as of lastnight if someone tops it we will top them.
Plus his wife said she doesnt want to leave Austin she loves it there.

I dont see Florida taking a chance on an assistant coach with no head coaching experience like muschamp. I would think They would remember what happened with Ron Zook.

plus if what is sad is true as in they want to replace there coach by in the next week.

Muschamp isn't in our top 3, but if we offer him the head gig at UF he'd take it. He is from the SEC, and knows that the area is the epicenter for recruiting.

Right now the Top names.........................

(keep in mind this is all from rumors, nothing concrete yet)

1. The Coach at Utah (cant spell his name). He is from Urban's system and has done a good job. Biggest problem is he is a born and raised mormon who wouldnt recruit well in the bible belt.

2. Bob Stoops. I have no idea why.... Hes gone from big game bob to no show bob, and I don't know anyone who wants him.

3. Coach Mullen/Charlie Strong. These guys will preserve the system which has been doing pretty good lately, and keep us on track.... either one has my approval.

4. Mike Shanahan. Long shot, but he has emerged as the only serious NFL customer. He has coached at UF before, and has expressed interest.... This is the golden goose.

5. Peterson/Paterson/Kerwin Bell/Muschamp. Lots of potential, lots of question marks.

6. Butch Davis/BOBBY BOWDEN LOL

What two SEC jobs were offered? Were either of them HC jobs? And were either of them at an elite program like Florida? He'd take the job.



I'd be GREAT with it being Charlie Strong. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think it wont be Dan Mullen. He isn't ready for the big time at Florida, and as soon as he comes in he'd would be compared to Urban all day every day... something which seems to bother him. I think Mullen is a great coach, and a great recruiter, but he doesn't have the drive that I think this position would need and he knows it.

Strong has the drive, and I think he will be a no brainier as far as candidates go. That'd be hilarious if we took him right back from UL....

My personal top 3 would be.............

1. Shanahan. I doubt this will happen, but there is mutual interest so I'll throw him up.

2. Gary Patterson from TCU. This is also unlikely, he loves being a big fish in a little pond with not a lot of competition, and has turned down BCS schools before.

3. Charlie Strong/Muschamp. These guys bring energy, recruiting and a defensive mindset. I think it would be easier to win bringing in a defensive guy, and locking down our defense.... then let Urban hand pick an up-and-coming OC, and mentor him into being great.

I disagree that Mullen doesn't have drive. You gotta have that to try and make a contender out of us.

He gave an interview last night with ESPN, and he said he was very happy with this job. He DIDN'T say he wasn't interested in the UF position... so who knows.

I'll tell you, despite the level of competition in the SEC and the SEC West in particular, MSU is just about as cushy a coaching job as you could want. You could go 7-5 and take our ass to the Liberty Bowl every year, along with a win over Ole Miss about half the time and have a job till they day you died. Our fans are that cynical and the expectations are that low. :p

Don't bet on it. That's the way Okie State used to be. A few good seasons and some of the alumni are expectiing too much.
