I think GM should make another SS Malibu

GM should consider making an SS Malibu no with a V8 but wit the Supercharged 3800 V6 from the Grand Prix, and make it AWD

.....Anyone

Forget that...use the 3.6DI from the CTS....of course, AWD would be sweet too...

Why?? Just so they can have another sedan compete within its own brand?

Making it AWD would be amazing but then it would take away from the value of the car as it would raise the price. The 3.6 DI would be a GREAT top engine for the car. Im sure in a few years they will have it as the price drops considering its going into the Camaro and hopefully the G8 base.

The car is selling like a mother and they shouldnt mess with it.

the 3.6 di isnt optimized to work in a FWD platform.

Isnt GM making a smaller DI engine for a FWD car? Im not too up to date on the engine prototypes.

I agree, the malibu SS was a pretty nice car but i would count on it, now a malibu sport will most likely happen with a different bumper, ground effects, and a computer tune to add more hp but i wouldn't think they would put a supercharger, a V8 or even AWD.

you do know that the D.I 3.6 is in the new Chevrolet Traverse crossover and it is FWD/AWD and it will also go into the other "Lambada" crossovers the outlook, arcadia, etc? granted it only puts out 285hp in FWD guise but that is still a lot of punch for a front drive or awd car.

The G8 will get the 3.6 DI for the 2010 model year.

Actually, a Malibu SS would have a segment to compete in. Ford is planning a Fusion GT (or SVT, I've heard both names mentioned) with an ecoboost V6 and AWD.

Malibu SS... = Not a good idea...

Now if the Malibu was RWD & considered a muscle car like it used to be.. then yes...
But now, no.

Just look at the last gen Malibu SS... The sedan was decent, but the Malibu Maxx SS... Yeah, I didn't know whether to laugh or vomit after seeing that thing...

You mean the LNF. It's a 2.0L Direct Injected, VVT twin scolled turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. Produces 260hp & 260 ft lbs torque... Very nice engine actually.

GM is also coming out with another DI 4cyl engine arriving in the Chevy Cruze, which is a 1.4L DI Turbocharged engine which I believe is producing like 140hp or something...

My mom owns a Malibu Maxx SS, it is a nice car and very comfortable to drive, but it is not an SS. My wife drives a Cobalt SS sedan, it to is a nice car, fun to drive, but also not an SS. The SS moniker needs to be saved for only the top performing cars in the line-up and I believe Chevy is doing that properly right now.
