Spike, what rear end do you have in your Z? Are you rolling on a stock 10 bolt?

somewhat stock. its got upgraded axles, but the center section is going to blow out when I get the trans fixed. then.................... I'm planning on doing something like this: http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=486663 http://www.lpwracing.com/p_axletubebrace.asp the main factor with the 10 bolt is axle tube flex. which during hard launches allows the ring gear and the pinion gear to seperate some. which then leads to them contacting on the edges of the gear teeth instead of the center of them, and then breaking the teeth which then get ground up inside and lead to more damage. the links I posted are a way to prevent the axle tube flex. tho the actual axles in the rear are weak pieces of isht as well. then you're still working with a 7.5" ring/pinion, the diff is weak, and the axles wont take much abuse. it is my understanding that with the housing flex, weak internals and not enough support on the caps that lead to its demise. the TA cover that shon herron has is supposed to help with that by putting extra pressure on the caps, but adding the torque arms add into this to keep the axle housings from stretching forward on hard launch causing flex and blowing the weak internals as well as adding even more pressure to the caps when the axle tubes do try to flex. ive been looking at this: http://www.jegs.com/i/L.P.W./619/301-7.5GK/10002/-1 matched with this: http://www.jegs.com/i/L.P.W./619/341-A/10002/-1 only problem with this kit is that while the kit is made for a 10 bolt 7.5 rear.... its not made directly for an F-body. there is some modification to be done if you go this way http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/show...2&postcount=56 or going thru herronperformance.com for this https://securehost98.hrwebservices.n...d&productId=96 and these: https://securehost98.hrwebservices.n...&productId=170 and custom making mine using something like this: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku with a pair of these: http://www.modacar.com/products/Hond...uster+%28.html and there's this as well: http://www.jdsperformance.com/index....=item&inmake=0 just make sure you get the 343-A for "minimum depth application" Quote: The minimum brace provides minimum chassis interference and is recommended for 1982-02 Camaro/Firebirds and 1979-04 Mustangs. doing this, the whole support kit would run you about $300.00 then add in the price for your gears, posi, and your axles things to do with a 10 bolt. 1. Weld the tubes all the way around 2. pinion spacer in place of the crush sleeve (WELL WORTH the $20) 3. girdle cover 4. main cap studs 5.axle tube torque arms 6. good posi 7. set up the lash tighter but not too tight 8. hardened aftermarket axleshafts im lucky that I have quite a few friends in my local car club have access to CNC machines and are experienced welders and have offered to help out with my endevours with this (and other things.... such as my meth/sc project). I just need to get the money and get some of the stuff bought. oh, also..... for your entertainment http://www.geocities.com/duragizer444/install.html if you haven't guessed.... ive been doing some research on this. lol

Operation Skylark is significantly more "go" now than it was 12 hours ago. Not quite "go" yet, but almost there.
I have 5611 from USAA, 1000 from a signature loan that I took out (going to pay if off next week when my trumpet sells, got a bid on it today), and 300 dollars cash that I could use without putting myself out on the street (bills have to be paid and whatnot). That puts me at 6911 out of 7000, but with no money for gas/sales tax. ![]() Closer... but not quite there... - X

![]() Mine is stock, but I'm thinking of upgrading to the hardened Moser axles. I don't do any serious drag racing--I'm just tired of bad wheel bearings chewing up the softer stock axles. I replaced my stock bearings when they went bad about 15k miles ago, now the axle saver bearings are going out. I'm hoping I have better luck with the Mosers and an OE style bearing. I decided not to go crazy with this car since I'll be trading up for a fifth gen in a couple of years.
