Marine shot as fight escalates



HAVELOCK, N.C. -- Police in North Carolina are saying a Marine was accidentally shot to death when he got into an argument with a friend over the Texas-Nebraska football game.

Police say 21-year-old Johnathan Clinton Rodriguez was shot early Sunday after banter escalated with a fellow Marine at a home in Havelock, a town near the coast. Authorities say Rodriguez got into a scuffle with 23-year-old Lionel Loya, who had a gun that went off during the struggle.

Loya has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. It's unclear whether he has an attorney. He was transferred to military authorities who didn't immediately return a telephone message Monday night.

Texas beat Nebraska 13-12 on a last-second field goal to win the Big 12 championship Saturday.

So, which bowlgame do you think is going to be the most exciting to watch. Put your personal team preference aside.

I'm thinking Las Vegas (Dec. 22): BYU (10-2) vs. Oregon State (8-4) may be the most fun game to watch. My 2nd pick would be the Rose Bowl (Jan. 1): Ohio State (10-2) vs. Oregon (10-2). BSU vs TCU may be good too (of course I'm a BSU fan- but objectively speaking), almost a grudge match of last years poinsettia bowl.

I think (and I'm biased but I'm trying to think objectively) that the Sugar bowl is going to be big.

Undefeated high powered Cincy, vs. The Gators and Tim Tebow trying to prove to everyone they are a lot better than what it looked like against Bama

I think the Saints and the Colts will be.

But really, I will be interested in LSU and Penn St. Don't know why but it just is interesting that they have Penn St. as the favorite.

I'm kind of thinking Cincinatti might suffer badly here. I'm not the biggest expert, and Cincy has definitely been an up and comer-but it still seems like Cincy had a little bit of a miracle season. I know they've been good for a couple of years though so I could be wrong (if you're a Cincy fan, please put your knives away, I'll listen to reason).

Capital One may be interesting because I know a lot of people are talking LSU up to be a powerhouse in the next couple of years.

OK, I read that article and I'm just thinking to myself- "no, you really can't cross the street and chew gum-you can barely change a lightbulb without f'ing it up for the next 100 years". I agree there needs to be a change, but this has no place in the hands of congress. Was that political?
