Here is the deal, he is a vet a highly decorated one at tht who has earned the right to fly that flag. At the same time being a vet he understands the chain of command. The HOA in this case is the chain of command which states that a flag pole is not allowed. He broke the chain of command and decided to do his own thing. Right wrong or indifferent, flag pole comes down - and I am a vet myself who has served and fought for my country also. I dont like the HOA's stance and I firmly agree with the old guy but I also understand the chain of command.

NOW, the "great minded" politicians say it can only stay up for 1 day and have been ordered to take it down!!! WHAAAATTT!?!? What is this world coming to?!?

It's only going to get worse with this "current administration", and I use that term loosely, that wants to control and collapse our entire system, our dollar and start a "new world order"!! IT'S DISGUSTING!!!

**And for the record, this "government control/intervention" all started with the previous administration, just no where as "radical".**

Here's my take on this in a nutshell, this is the third forum this news story has been posted in and commented on by me, one of them a Army/Military only site.

He moved into this community and signed the HOA agreement, he must live by the agreed upon rules. They are not saying he can't fly the American flag, he just can't do it on his monster flag pole. Everyone else who flies the flag in his HOA do so on a column mounted short pole (common on a lot of homes).

His solutions are very simple. Work within the agreement to have the rules changed (for everyone) or move to a new community that allows it.

The media and his 'friends & family' using his MOH as an excuse for him to
break the agreement is pathetic and is disgusting IMNSHO.

I may have misread this, and I'm probably going to get ripped for saying this. This doesn't have anything to do with freedom or the nanny-state keeping this man down. He just joined a neighborhood with a strict HOA (which is something you do by choice because the neighborhoods usually look nice). You can't go around signing agreements and then deciding you don't like the outcome.

Move to a neighborhood with a looser HOA.

I read this on the web an hour ago. I'm still pissed off! What has America come to, the people in his housing area need to go live across the big pond for awhile. Having spent 20 plus years in the Army. I still raise my own flag, I'll be dammed if some one, with no life, threatens me and the flag. It would be one hell of a fight nation wide.
