Tiger is a great ATHLETE in my opinion. Golf is a sport in high school and college and last time i checked, athletes play sports, no matter what the sport is. that being sad, i dont think he is in the league of Usain Bolt or Albert Puljois but when it comes to revolutionizing a sport, he is at the top. Now, i do feel bad that he has all the media attention, and i think that family matters should be settled behind closed doors.

People saying that golf isn't a sport don't know what the definition of Sport is..... and they probably suck at golf. lol.

Stick shifts are slow and boring too if you cant drive them.

No, they said golfers aren't athletes.

Been over this one. How do you define athlete? That's the question.

I can go outside and throw the ball with my son but does that make me an athlete? Guess you have to do it at a world class level.

well thats stupid. i mean thats like saying throwers on the track team arent athletes cuz all they do is throw and you dont have to be able to run 6 miles to do that

Right. I agree. But are all players at all levels considered athletes?

I got no opinion. I don't know.

i say that to a certain extent yes. i mean i was on the track team in high school and went to state all four years but i sat the bench on varsity basketball for 2 years. does the fact that i sat the bench make me not an athlete... no. does the fact that somebody may not be as good as someone else make them not an athlete? i think there is a line to drawl. i mean some guy that goes out and tosses the football around to their kid is not an athlete but that doesnt mean they werent an athlete at one time

I think if you play on an organized sports team your an athlete..... what kind of athlete you are/how good you are is determined by what level you play the game and how well you do it.

What if I'm playing in the church softball league?

Maybe that's why you hear it prefaced as 'World Class Athlete' when talking about the pros?

Yup. That's the way I see it. I used to have a very different view but I pretty much can see both sides. So I just don't know.

Now. How bout bowlers? Are they athletes?

I carry a 209 average and can compete scratch but would get killed by the pros. Shot 299 a few weeks ago. Have 3 300s. Am I an athlete?
