Def bad. He would not have left if GM was doing good, Saturn and Saab's failures are not good for GM and it appears that they are getting some pressure from the govt to turn things around specially since Ford just announced $1b profits.

I love the Camaro as a car, but have not been a fan of GM's decisions since a long time.

Federal government owns 60% of the stock. That should answer your question.

It is bad news... a change of leadership in perhaps the most turbulent times in the auto industry is not good.

Look at Ford and their turn around... The Fusion is one of the highest selling cars in America right now and they just made $1b in profits and VW, now the biggest automaker in the world is acquiring brands like Porsche.

The 2010 Camaro is an amazing car produced by GM, but unfortunately it will not be enough to save the company. They have to get their general sales up, which means Malibu's should be outselling Camry's and Jetta's while the Cruze next year should be outselling Corollo's and Civic's... I dont see that happening.

And Fen, please explain your position. It was my impression that Fritz has been doing a pretty good job. I mean, GM still exists.... Fritz had a past of reviving near-dead international GM businesses.
Fritz did a good job getting GM through bankruptcy, which may be all he was supposed to do, but he really didn't do much more IMO. It just seems as though Whitacre's arrival at GM was what really sparked change.

Speculation.

He may have personal reasons to get out now. We don't know, and if the man wants to retire then so be it. There are many companies out there that change leadership regularly, in some cases, CEO just means you are no more than 18 months from retirement. That's the corporate world we live in.

I have a feeling he didn't leave completely voluntarily.

The more I learn about how GM was taken over and who was given what percentage.... the less confident I am they will thrive in the future.

Please keep political comments and speculation out of posts. There's no room for that.

Respectfully...
