Yeah, I guess. Not many 21 year-olds own a condo.

Then again, its not so good for my short-term camaro prospects. But a man can dream, right?

Project Maxim is just about the only thing keeping me sane at this point. A year ago I thought I'd have a camaro in the driveway (so to speak: I don't actually have my own driveway; private parking is nice though, since I rarely have to park next to somebody) by now. Then again, that was before my fiance and I split up, before I bought the condo, and before I was discharged from the military. I never really appreciated the 200/month from the guard - I mean, I loved being in the guard, but I always thought the pay was kind of lackluster - until I wasn't getting it anymore.

Heh. Yeah, well. Everybody has down points and up points in their life. Early this year was just one of the downpoints.

And 200 a month isn't much before you consider that its for 2 days worth of work (plus the responsibility of keeping myself in shape both mentally and physically during the rest of the month). Added to my normal (civilian job) income it was pretty nice to have.

Total cost so far is at a little over 300 dollars (good lord, have I spent that much already?) and I have a ways to go. Including completely rebuilding the brake system, tires, exhaust.

90 + 75 + 60 = 225: brakes
125 + 175 = 300: new tires
325: new exhaust
100ish: new headlight and turn signals.

No including any incidentals or the paint job. That puts remaining cost at 950. I think 250-300 should cover both the paint job and anything extra that pops up, which would but the total project in the 1500 dollar range.

Not too bad all things considered though. Thats basically 1500 bucks for a brand new bike, and one that will be completely unlike anything else on the street. Plus, I'll be able to sell the stock seat/front fender/front fairing for a good bit of money because nobody makes those parts anymore, and aftermarket replacements are expensive.

P.S. - going to do some fiddling with the stock exhaust this weekend if we get the bike running: try a few tricks that I've read about. I may be able to get the stock exhaust to sound the way I want, at which point buying the aftermarket exhaust for 325 would be completely unnecessary.

Wow, yea, that is relatively cheap for everything you are doing! And I am sure you can get some good cash for those parts....

hope you can get the exhaust sounding the way you want! Save you some $$!!!

Yep. Well, I know I can get the exhaust to the right TONE fairly easily. Its getting it to the right tone without being ungodly loud (and we're talking big block chevy open headers loud) that will be the trick.

Like I said though, I have some ideas that may work.

NICE!!!! Sounds fun! I intended on signing up to get my 'M' class license this past spring/summer, but was in Disney, so I couldn't...This spring though, I think I will...
