ticket...

So today, somebody took a picture of my plates after I passed them in a double yellow and I saw them immediately get on the phone.

I was smart enough not to let them follow me home, but I was just wondering if the police can do anything just by somebody's word?
She didn't have proof that I passed her illegally, she just had a picture of my plates at a stop sign.

Legally, they have the burden of proof. Without good footage and a witness, you're fine.

Drive safely, though.

Only an officer can issue a ticket and they have to witness the offense. The only exception is the red light cameras, and then those are only civil and not criminal.

but what if you were passing in a legal passing zone, but couldnt pass them in enough time before it changed back, then you came back over after it had become a double yellow?

if the cops say something to you, tell them you tried to pass, and the other person hit the gas to keep you from passing...lol

Nah, you're fine. She has no proof that you passed her unless she filmed it.

Why would you pass someone over a double yellow line anyways?

Basically it is a 35 mph 3 mile long straight road that should be at least 50, and the lady was going like 25.

Besides, there was a turbo Beetle i had to keep up with.
