You can get a car cover, this way if the cat goes on your car, he wont scratch it, itll be on the cover. I have a car port as well, and I put the cover on every night, because you never know what elements or animals will come by and mess up your baby

Rick. I see you are in Atlanta GA. My uncle lives in Lavonia GA and is going through the same thing. He contacted the police and animal control 3 times. The 1st two times they gave his neighbors a warning to told them to keep the animal off his property and the third time they laid out traps and told the owner of the pet. Each time they came, they specifically told my uncle not to touch or harm the animal in any way because if he did he would face jail time and retribution to the owner.

Sorry but you can NOT kill someone else's pet even after going though the "legal" means, in fact if you actually go though the legal paperwork they explicitly tell you verbatim that you can not harm the animal yourself. You can not give that "laws differ" bs as he lives in the same area as you.

Curious, if your neighbor was mowing his lawn and you saw a rock fly out from under his mower and bust your windshield would you hold him responsible for the repairs or would that just be "life"? Or how about if he had his roof reshingled and a roofing nail made it into your tire? As far as a bird pooping on my car... the bird doesn't have an owner, same with a rock. The cat belongs to my neighbor. If it wasn't for my neighbor the cat wouldn't be there, therefore the neighbor is responsible.
The lawnmower example fits into the acts of god people mow grass rocks are on the ground at some point some poor person is gonna be in a Rock + Mower + Car incident. No ones fault.

As far as the neighbor shingling the roof. People can take reasonable car not to scatter nails on the ground not doing so is negligent. Roofers fault.

Cats owned or feral are usually found around where people live at some point one will jump on a car. Goes with the lawnmower example.

You also said the cat has been sitting on your car for a long time and this is the first time you have seen a scratch. From my own experience and from several other posts cats don't seem to scratch cars. There is just no reason for them to put there claws out on a smooth metal surface they would not be able to move and cats tend to know when to and not to use the claws. It maybe that the scratch and the paw print were coincidental. I'm not saying just let the cats crawl over your car, paw prints are annoying in themselves just the problem may not be as bad as you think.

I had lots of cats around my car at one point, You really need a car cover! It working well but do not get a cheap one. You need a very tough one. Lots of layers! They will get through the tough ones. Goodl uck! Also please do kill the cats! :P

Try mothballs, works like a charm for us. Maybe you can leave it around your car and near your windshield wipers. Theyre pretty potent
Good Luck

It's a pretty comon problem me thinks lol.

I'd personally have no qualms about catching it, giving it to the city. There is a Leash law where I live, if the City gets called on your animal, that's a 75 dollar fine. I figure the owner "Would" eventually grow tired of that.

Luckily, it's all Hypothetical for me cause My Camaro = Garaged!

I wish you luck OP, don't be afraid to call and ask the local authorities what your rights are!

If you're not committed enough to kill for your Camaro...

Seriously, you should immediately sell it to someone who is...

If your cat were to jump on my car, you could not be held responsible?

Think again! If your animal is on my property, YOU are responsible for them.
