See, no need to argue about that, is there?

Now, for all those who've offered legitimate suggestions, thank you. I'll be checking into all of them and hopefully one of them will work.

The only things I'll say about the posts are that cows ARE cute (they have beautiful eyes, but yes, I do eat them, well, not the eyes lol) and, IMO, if all those people who have "outside cats" really cared for them they wouldn't let them roam freely. They can get hit by cars, attacked by dogs, torn to bits by other cats, poisoned by mean people, etc. Good pet owners wouldn't put their pets in danger like that.
AGREED. I own TWO cats. They are not allowed outside. Didn't declaw them, so if they do get out they have an outside chance. If my cats DID get outside, and screwed up someone elses property, it would be my fault. I would take whatever the consequences were. No matter how severe.

Cows are not cute. Unless by cute, you mean tasty. Or yummy.

Yeah, I can see letting them roam in the country, but I live in a pretty busy area. Our houses are about 20 feet apart and there's lots of traffic around here.

Busy country or whatever you take your chances when you let them roam. I was raised in BFE MS and I can't tell you how many cats we had whose ultimate fate was probablly getting turned into a pile of coyote poop.

I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and whether I live on a half acre (which I do) or 1000 acres I wouldn't let them roam freely.

The deterrents might work but you have to remember that all cats are different so you might have to go through a combination. A thick cover (that claws will not go through.) will stop any cat.

Sounds like someone pushed the cat off, never had a problem with cats on my car except paw prints and sleeping on the wheels.

From my experience, cats will crawl UNDER a car cover and hang out. I must be the only person to have this happen or it would have been posted previously. I removed a neighbors cat from under the cover once and he proceeded to dig his nails into my arm and sink his teeth into me as well. Not real hard with the teeth or he would surely turned up missing. I have had cats before so this is not real unusual behavior. I let him go, cursed him out and kept my garage door closed from that point on.

Time for you to lay out a dish of pepper sauce under the car in my opinion. No harm done there.

-Mark.

Exactly. They are property. If your animal property is coming on to mine, and is destroying my property, I can LEGALLY get the authorization, and paperwork to kill it. Laws differ. Sorry. PMs please.
Sorry about your neighbor dispute. Doesn't sound like he had authorization and paperwork. If he did, you didn't get your copy.

You must provide proof, and pay the fee's, and all that, ect. The owner is made aware, and has opportunity to correct. But if he does not, well, I have a right to protect my property as well.

You have to secure it at the bottom. In the fall squirrels will stuff leaves under there.

I'm gonna highjack my own thread here for a sec... it needs lightening up.

My sister-in-law and her family live on several acres in the country. A yr or so ago her hubby and his brother decided to buy a calf to raise for slaughter. Our niece, who is 8, got attached to the cow and didn't want them to slaughter it, so she took enought money from her savings to buy her uncles share and got to keep it. She's now the proud owner of a pet cow named T-Bone.

edit: the picture is not f t-bone, just a cute calf. can't get it to load where I want it to.

One of the bigger advantages of having 'free range' dogs in the neighborhood is they tend to keep the coyotes away. Especially if several of the dogs are hefty, like the rottie I used to have.

Things is getting a little crazy here......

A car cover is a real pain for many reasons, you know that. you can't put it on a dirty car etc etc, so that is not the answer.

Sorry but........The only REAL answer is to enclose the carport..... IMO.
The largest cost is labor! If you could get someone to , If you need help then the cost would be Less than half of what it would cost to contract it out.
That would solve much more than the cat problem.
Your car will thank you..........

I say get a few of these, connect them to a motion sensor and aim them straight at the car.

VEC192 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight

Should be bright enough to annoy pretty much any animal.

Oh, and I completely understand where you are coming from on this. I live in the country and we have all kinds of dogs and cats roaming free through our property (not a single one is ours - we own 1 cat and she stays indoors). There are a couple of the cats that have jumped off the gravel driveway onto my Camaro more than a few times now and I've been lucky so far with nothing more than light scratches. Adding super bright motion sensor security lights is the only non-lethal solution that I have come up with so far. Buying and using a cover is out of the question because I'd do more damage myself putting it on a dirty car than the localized damage that a cat's claws would do.

Wow.....just apply before mentioned water from hose and the feline will get the idea. (May take a few applications). I grew up with cats, and this is the best, cheapest, and most humane way to keep the cats away from above and under the vehicles, IMO.

Feel free to wash your maro afterwards
