So what you're are saying is that every Chief Master Sgt such as myself feels the need to be stroked because of course as you say no self respecting Chief is going to call himself an E-9. Grow up please, the lines of communication in the military works both ways abviously you hav'nt been in long enough to know. Good luck in your military career, but I assure you I am the real deal.

Expose him and move on. In person, public ridicule works well.

They piss me off too. My biggest peeve is posers who claim to be/have been SpecOps. Wannabe trash who couldn't get a job as a mall cop, let alone make it as one of America's elite warriors. An ass kicking is in order for these clowns.

BTDT. For those who have really been there, we have nothing to prove. We survived. That's proof enough.

Just a reminder, the ones that talk allot of smack, have never served. The warriors that serve/served do not have to talk about it, they have served ther country and then some. Enough said!

Let's talk cars, people are dying so we can.

I DEFINATLY RESPECT THOSE THAT SERVED AND I THANK THOSE WHO DID , MY NEPHEW SERVED IN 1991 GULF WAR HE HAS HAD GREAT STORIES TO TELL BUT NEVER BRAGS NOR CONSIDERS HIMSELF BETTER THAN ANYONE AND HE NEVER BRINGS UP THE SUBJECT UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE DOES HE IS MORE PROUD OF BEING A GOOD FATHER TO HIS KIDS AND A RESPONSIBLE PERSON , HIS WAR WAS A LONG TIME AGO AND DOES NOT USE HIS MILITARY BACKGROUND AS A VEHICLE OF SELF PROMOTION THATS WHAT REALLY GETS MY RESPECT !!!

I had one of the old graybeard warfighters I work with tell me something funny once. He said he knew the real reason we lost Vietnam. It was because we didn't have any support personnel in country, like supply officers and truck drivers. Everybody you meet who says they fought in Vietnam seems to claim they were some high speed low drag delta force recon ranger seal or something goofy like that...

I've never heard a Master Chief(s) refer to themselves as E-9. The only time you hear him say 'I'm an E-9 in the Navy' is when he's trying to impress some young gal at a bar. You don't say, 'Aye, aye, E-9' you say,'Aye, aye, Master Chief' and carry on. And running into people that say they are SEAL's is amazing until you ask them certain things that refer to NAB, Coronado.

Gloves,
I think your rant is justified. The fact that the *beep* was posing as an individual worthy of a huge amount of respect, only emphasizes his lack thereof in spades.

I'm in the Air Force and I'm called Chief by my subordinates. I only refered to myself as an E-9 so that the Civilian population would know what rank I am. Also, I was in the Navy for four years and got out as a second class Petty Officer. Is that good enough for you?

Had a customer try to pretend she was married to someone in the military. She had all his info to. A Power of Attorney (which looked like Zakq made it in his preschool class) and everything. The salesperson she was dealing with had no military background and didn't think anything of it. I just happened to be by when she mentioned he was in service and as a veteran, I was like cool! What branch? She responded What do you mean. I asked her what service she was in and she "couldn't remember", which raised red flags for me. Then I went further and started to ask where he was stationed and what he did. Again she wasn't able to respond. I did this real non-chalantly, and excused myself. I went to managment and told them to stop deal, the asked why and I explained that I honestly doubt someone can be married to someone for 10 years and not know if he was Airforce, Army, Navy, or Marines. We stopped deal and she got arrested at another dealership for identity theft.

Yeah, definitely would have raised flags for me as well.

I was in (ARNG) but never really in - had weight issues. Got discharged (unclassified, RE3) because the CMO at meps wouldn't let me ship to BCT/AIT. I was trying to figure out why they let me enlist if I wasn't in weight reqs.

Working on getting back in. Making sure I'm 100% in reqs this time (because I actually know them now after two years, heh - before I enlisted I had no clue about anything except what my recruiter told me) before I go talk to my recruiter again.

Kept all my paperwork so I can back it all up. Not like I really have that much of a record to back up. Want to do career though - and I'm sure as hell not giving up on that dream yet.
- X

Wow, some of these things are quite horrible to read.

As for opinions, feel free to have your opinions, that is what we are fighting for.

I think all those that have served or are going to serve are truly real life hero's. With that said the idea of mandatory service scares the crap out of me. Do you remember Hitler? He required service, not just for 18 years+ either. That idea is not what our country was founded on
