BTW Meyer isn't going anywhere.

Recent Article in Gainesville Sun.....

" Despite the many statements made by Meyer about the possibility of his leaving for Notre Dame and the new six-year deal he agreed to, the story won't die until the Irish have a successful season under Charlie Weis or hire another coach. The speculation is Meyer is a Midwest guy and Notre Dame will throw tons of money at him, even more than the $4 million a year Florida will pay Meyer.

But Meyer revealed for the first time in an interview with The Sun that there have been big-money offers from both colleges and the NFL during his tenure at Florida.

"If it was only about money, I wouldn't be coaching at Florida," he said. "It's about more than that. I've got peace of mind. I have an athletic director, the first two years we loved him but we didn't know him. His presentation (in Utah), you give him a 10 and everybody else a two. I thought I trusted him, but I didn't know I trusted him. Now I know I trust him. We've had enough heart-to-hearts and conflicts we've had to work through. We're good."

" For Meyer, it took awhile. And it wasn't until the weeks after he guided Florida to a second national title and the third in school history that he had those epiphanic moments.

"After the Oklahoma game, I realized that this is it," he said. "I could see it coming before, but there were a bunch of moments this spring. It's coaching 101 when you first put your foot into coaching. What is your dream job? You've got your facility, your strength staff, training staff, a really good group of players where there is no void coming up.

"It's Melrose. It's Bluewater Bay. It's Buchholz High School. It's watching Nate pitch Little League and it's no cow pasture. It's a big-time field at Diamond Sports Park. It's my church, Queen of Peace, where I know the priest now. It's Ballyhoo's, and they put me and my daughter at a corner table and we laugh. It's being out in a boat on Lake Santa Fe watching the sun set. It's a conglomeration of comfort. I can drive to my office in seven minutes. I can be at Bluewater Bay in 18 minutes if I hit the lights right.

"I think human beings are driven for peace of mind. As a coach, what's your peace of mind? I've got peace of mind. This is my dream job. Three years ago, I couldn't say that. When I came here, I talked about how great Gainesville was, but I didn't know. Now, oh my God. Now, I can say, wow. I love Gainesville now."

Shit, over our extended rebuilding period (the last 8 years or so) it seems like every team we schedule is bad to mediocre but turns into a top 25 team by the time they show up in Starkville. West VA, GT, Houston... the list goes on and on....

Next year has the potential to be very tough on us. We have 7 junior's who might leave early for the NFL Draft.... On top of the dozen or so impact players already leaving.......... Ouch.

yeah I know how that is. I'm not sure how florida fans are but Texas Fans are hard to please. With the recruits we get yearly " they " other Texas Fans Expect Big every year. I Don't expect anything but understand there will be the years where you have to replace some folks... some years more than others due to early entry.
Texas is not known for losing players early to the draft. We can think Coach Mack Brown for that on how he has stressed how an education is important however one man changed the trend of staying all 4 years " Vince Young "
Since he left after his junior year and Colt took over the next year we are now losing our QB along with our line at the same time. Used to we always had a line for a new Qb or a Qb for a new line. Now we got to replace both of them at the same time.
I don't think we will be 5 and 5 however I do expect it being a little tough at times. Understandable and Normal.

You know it is very intersting about some of the comments about 4,5 6 & 7 of the BCS. I do not think anyone of them could play a season in the SEC or BIG 12.

Can you blame him though?? I was going to school in Austin when we won it all and I remember all the people complaining on the radio..."He said he would come back and now he's not...He's a liar... He's breaking our hearts...He's just another money hungry blah blah blah." I was like, really!? The guy had the great performance in the history of the game and one of the greatest sports performances of all-time.

He's had a tough run in the NFL so far but I'm glad to see him have a couple good games he recently as he has taken back over starting duties.

I don't know about that, I'd say numbers 4-7 would be leading at least in BIG12 North and I can definitely see any of them as #2 or 3 in BIG 12 South right now. So I think "I do not think anyone of them could play a season" may be overstating your hand. I see them as 2 or 3 SEC East or West. You can't argue against Florida, Texas, or Alabama, but I really don't think you can fairly say TCU, Cincinatti, or BSU couldn't go toe to toe S Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, etc right now. I think those teams vs LSU would actually be a good game.

Now I don't think they'd be LEADING BIG 12 or SEC, but I definitely think they could play there. They'd definitely be in the hunt for PAC 10 or Big 10 as well.

I don't think Florida's rebuilding year will be as bad as most think. I am sure they will be at least 9-3 at the end of the season. Which isn't too too bad. They would be slated to play in the SEC championship game again if their sec region played like it did this year. I think Florida's biggest competition starting next year would be Alabama, and LSU. The rest are not even contenders, but more like pretenders.

Well, prior to 95', Florida had never won the championship. And prior to Urban Meyer, we didn't have huge hopes for winning it again anytime soon. Now that we got Urban, and he has built UF into a stellar program, the fan's have become a little spoiled and expect us to win every game by 50. However, Florida fan's still have some grip on reality unlike say....... Tennessee fans . We know we aren't going to win it every year, especially after loosing a leader like Tim Tebow.

About a week ago a report came out from Urban Meyer that talked about 9 starters on our defense exploring the possibility of leaving early for the NFL draft.... including our best 5 defensive players. Apparently, they don't want to be here without Tim Tebow (like many of them have publicly talked about). So it seems that next year won't be a rebuilding year but rather a 'new identity' year. You can't replace Tebow in our Offense, so our offense will change.

We have Brantley who is A LOT better than people are giving him credit for... We have all 3 of our running backs. We have our TE Aaron Hernandez who I'd take over anyone in the country. But our WR's are again going to be in question, hopefully some of the guys we recruited last year and the later this year will step up their efforts and really focus on improving their game. I expect a 2 loss season next year, but you never know.

Vince had one great game, and it happened to be on a big stage. He has worked out in the NFL exactly how I figured he would. Minus his mom calling in and him breaking down in tears. Can't predict that shit.

While I agree that they could probably play with any one of those teams on a given week, but I believe they would be hard pressed to play Ole Miss Tenn, LSU, Miss State, South Carolina and Auburn back to back and have alot of success. The Sec will have 10 teams Bowl eligible after this weekend.

The problems I see with those Teams is depth and depth of talent. Cinn has done a better job than most when their QB got hurt Collaros came in and has done a great job because he can run, but there again I would like to see him run on SEC Defenses every week. While I may have a bias opinion of the SEC I truly believe they would struggle mightily in the SEC.

Three weeks ago Oregon was the next coming after they spanked USC, Then Stanford showed up and spanked both USC and Oregon.

I guess my point is longevity and consistency Texas, Florida, Alabama and OU have been consistent for years. and yes you can make a case for one game each year that these teams have struggled through or even lost but overall the talent and depth. Neither of these three teams are in the top 50 in recruiting with Cinn being 53, Boise State at 82 and TCU at 86. While I certainly admire these programs for excelling with less talented players, there is no way possible for them to compete week in and week out in either of these conferences. JMHO
