Yes. It works great. I use it because I am in a mild climate and I have a handle on my engine temps with a 160F thermostat and tuned the fans to keep the air flow over the radiator to keep it under 200F. If you dont or cant manage your temps then go with the 5W30.

Thanks for the info man. I wasn't planning on babying mine anyway lol. I didn't know about the down shifting thing though so thanks for the time you put into this. I didn't see any timelines on when to change other fluids like the transmission fluid.

I think I messsed up??????? I did not do the proper break in. I got the car with 26 miles on it. Kind of babied it shifting gears at about 3000rmps...Accelerated about 7 times to about 100+ mph, and I also remember downshifting. Now I have 1100 miles on it. Did I break my new Camaro.....Is it bad........To much money to start all over again, Plus I like driving it so much. This was just supposed to be my Monday car...Now it's my Sunday thru Saturday car. I love it. My heart slowwwws down everytime I see it in the lot or parked in my garage. What should I do about the break it NOW....Please HELP

Everyone has there own special break in period. I say seat of the pants performance increases are subjective.... So are there any dyno sheets to show that the "best break in ever" works or is everyone just drinking the kool aid??

I know your skeptical and that's healthy, but the "everyone" you refer to is the regular person on the street that doesn't have a clue what goes on inside their engine. I have a feeling (and I haven't actually talked to anyone to find this out) that if you talk to Master Engine Builders, Mechanical Engineers, or anyone else that has a lot of experience with what goes on inside an engine, you'll get the pretty much the same answer on how to break an engine in. Now, that being said, I'd be curious to see some dyno's, but this thread probably isn't the one to do it in.

Unfortunately you have ruined your Camaro. Please send me your keys and registration so I can some and pick it up.

Seriously RELAX!

Ok so you have 1100 miles on it.

If you haven't done so then change the oil and oil filter now and start doing hard accelerations for the next 500 miles, take two aspirins and call me in 2 months.

Have fun.

Those ET slips are about the best dyno one could possibly have. I will be going on the dyno to do some tuning in the near future, or whenever I get around to it. Like I said in my opening statement, Dont use my break in procedure. You dont need or want this much power.

I see your ets but I also see your car is no longer stock. The reason I asked for the dyno numbers is because if it is that much of a difference you should be able to see that on paper. Not sure why you seem to be getting defensive. I do break in my cars similar to how you described I was just hoping we had some comparative data between two different schools of thought, so relax nobody is saying your way suxs.

I guess that did come across a little defensive. Sorry for that. Mine was considered "non stock after the second day of ownership. LOL It would be very good to have dyno data, I will agree 100%. Getting someone to take the time to evaluate two separate cars with different break in procedures will be hard to find. My "proof" or dyno data comes from about 100000 dyno pulls. All the dyno data I have seen on break in with various types of engines have all yielded the same results. Thats why I started the thread. The data over the years was so overwhelmingly one sided that the proof was obvious to me and every other professional I know in this field. You are correct about having dyno data and I respect you wanting verifiable PROOF. I am the same way therefore I would never fault another for that. Maybe one of these days we will find out. Maybe this thread will inspire someone to "prove it works".

Darin, I used your break in procedure on my 2LT, have over 1,000 miles on it now (only had it a week), and I think I have a problem now, although others have said their LTs are doing the same thing.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but you know what you're talking about, and I wanted your opinion on this problem.

Can I talk you into taking a look at this thread:

Thanks much, and keep the info coming

I have 665 miles on my LT, is it too late to switch to the hard break-in? I've driven it relatively easy up till now (I've did some full throttle starts occasionally), but now I am wondering if I should start really punching it...

I wonder if this thread should be closed? A lot of repetitive questions with all the answers given.

Hey can I start doing hard accelerations on my SS? I now have 1500 miles on it.
