I think the Dark Horse looks decent, it's the price that's ugly.

The real problem is the Mustang has no competition and it still won't sell.

Is Chevy doing this just to put a new body style in NASCAR? I mean, how many V8 Toyota Camry's are on the highway.

So, I'm pretty sure I read in one of the articles on this announcement, that between the new CT5, the new Buick sedan, and the new Camaro, the target sales would be in the 60 - 70K a year range. So if that's true, were not talking very big numbers here for GM to be satisfied. I could be wrong and perhaps that meant a target for just the Camaro, but that seems much too lofty of a goal in my opinion. All three cars are going to be build together, on the same platform, sharing mostly the same parts and drivetrains, so I can see how "only" selling 30 or 40K Camaros, and 20K a piece between the Caddy and the Buick could work.

The question mark for me is, will the Camaro (and the Buick?) still be 2 door cars, or are we going to see 2 doors and four door versions of each? We know the CT5 will be four doors.

The 6th gen Camaro was a performance king, but wasn't so great in ergonomics and practicality. Not that the Mustang is much better in those two areas. Challenger seemed to make a sales comeback of sorts late in the game before it's demise and I think much of that reason is due to those two areas, but it couldn't compete as a "track star".

My opinion...this time around, Camaro will be a bit bigger (heavier), more comfortable and more practical. It will still look mean and badass, but it won't lean so heavy on being a track star this time around. It will still drive fantastic, solely since it will ride on Alpha 2 platform. If they stuff the 6.7 in there, it will be faster in a straight line than the 6th gen also, but I wouldn't doubt it if the 6th gen continues to turn just as good or better lap times than the 7th gen does.

If it’s still on alpha 2, it WILL be a trackstar. You can make a track star and still be practical.

Not saying it won't be a good performer, but I think about a few things that could hurt it against the 6th gen when you compare apples to apples...lets say a standard SS in 6th gen and 7th gens.

7th gen, if bigger and more practical will likely be heavier.

Unless they are going for the big margins / low sales formula, I'd assume that keeping the Camaro cost low is an even bigger goal this time around, so I'd assume a standard 7th gen SS may not get some of the same goodies the 6th gen had, such as the larger rear brakes (as say, compared to the LT1), additional coolers, maybe changes in suspension so it's better on the road instead of the track....stuff like that.

But they can just offer a "1LE" again if people want the car more setup for the track.

Here's my take... since they all share the same A2 platform.

Cadillac will be the CT5 sedan. V series available. Done.

Buick, being an international brand will offer a sedan and coupe. Regal sedan, in a base and GS trim level, and a Grand National high performance coupe.

Camaro will be a coupe and go back to a hatchback! Bear with me... That body style is no stranger to Camaros and will be great for aerodynamics in NASCAR. RS, SS and ZL1 trim levels with a hyper performance Z28.

I guess it's wait and see....

Nice choices, let me add one major option: AWD
Once you've driven an AWD sportscar, especially in poor weather areas, RWD just won't do, and since they currently offer AWD on the CT5...
DO IT GM!!

I’m 100% ready to be disappointed by this news. I want a manual V8 and not one made in China (Getrag)*. Gimme a Tremec 6 speed, Recaro seats and a thumping V8, Chevy, and I’m day one.

*Yes, I know. Dark Horse has a Tremec. If I’m gonna spend $75k, it would be on that other Chevy V8. The one with the engine behind the seats.

I would love a RWD hatchback Camaro...with a V8 and 6-speed

Someone mentioned SUV's being popular. My wife and I own 2 SUV's and NEVER wanted to. We were forced into them because our family owns a GM dealership and all the sedans we liked went away, leaving just the tiny Malibu when we wanted to buy 2 new cars in 2023. I own an Equinox with a 1.5 4cyl and absolutely hate it! My wife has a 2023 Acadia, last year with the 6cyl. I actually like it but she would rather go back to a car.
I wanted desperately to buy a new ZLE in 2024 but couldnt get an allocation. As I recall, my in laws told me supply issues were the main reason inventories were down. They couldnt get hardly anything and what they did get, often came without requested options. Their lot looked like they were going out of business at times.
There's a market for all these cars. Me and my wife arent the only ones who want them!
Having said that, I wouldnt settle for anything less than a replacement of the ZLE I have. If they make an electric version, IDK, but they have to have what I want. While they're at it, bring back the Impala too!
