2027 Camaro EV Crossover Tophat on Ultium Skateboard

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2027...ev-future-cars

I don't know what to believe anymore. I think we all kind of knew this might happen, but I won't believe it for certain until I see Queen M smiling in a prototype.

This time, expect the Bow Tie to resurrect the Camaro not as a coupe but as a fastback SUV aimed squarely at the Mustang Mach-E. That is, unless General Motors president Mark Reuss has his way and the Camaro makes its comeback as an electric car.
Great... the world needs more crossover SUVs, for all the people taking their 8000 lb vehicles offroad where a tiny ding in the undercarriage will total it.

Well, regardless the odds of me buying this version of the “Camaro” will be substantially lower than zero lmao

If this comes to fruition, what absolute DISGRACE to the Camaro nameplate!
They thought the Camaro coupes/convertible sales were bad...haha...go ahead Mary, release this abomination and you'll see what low sales are. . What a waste of money that thing would be!

Hell, at this point, I'll slap some Camaro badges on my Silverado and call that a Camaro from now on too, since we're just creating shit that's not REALLY what it is!

Sounds like Billy needed to pad his article or meet his deadline, even solely used AI images instead of even one photo of a 6th gen for any affect. On a unrelated note, why does he have so many articles of ‘2026 model’ posted throughout the year yet all of the articles have been removed from their site

One more for good measure

Plus, could the ZL-1 return…
I am also a big fan of a ZL-1

They've already removed the other article they referenced. My guess is because they have no actual truth behind the story and are just trying to drive traffic and discussion to be the first to "break" the story. I will say the reason I bought my 6th gen SS when I did is because I didn't want to miss out on the last gas Camaro in production. I can see an EV, but Chevrolet would be shooting themselves in the foot if they went the way of the Mach-E (and look Motortrend has us talking about it, so I guess it's successful).

After the EV Charger fiasco no one with any business sense would repeat that mistake. This is just the media trying to speak something into existence.

At this point I'd be happy with something sporty besides the Corvette to wish for but auto manufacturers seem to be in a design/powerplant crisis right now.

Well Farmer Fran might like these electric Camaros as he seems to have bad luck with ice vehicles. No Bueno for me.

Actually surprised that Motor Trend would even print something like that.

First of all, Chevrolet's answer to Mustang Mach E already exists. It's called Blazer EV. There's even an SS version that dog walks the Mach E GT.

Second, GM tends to be super tight-lipped about these things. Especially something that would be such a major departure from anything else GM is working on. I'd love to know their sources for their assumptions (guesses?).

What we do know is that
  • Mark Reuss has said that the Camaro name will return, probably as an EV.
  • What he DID NOT say is that it would be an SUV. That's something MT has come up with on their own.
  • GM does have EV sedans in their future portfolio. But what brand they are and what the nameplates will be only GM knows for sure. There's a lot of room for answers that don't involve Camaro.
