I've used it for years and never had to subscribe to e-mails to know where my active threads are.

1st place I go every time I visit the site.
Prior to the end of production of the cars while new owners were popping up all over the place and there were always new things to discuss, this would have been a reasonable way to do it. For those of that still have an interest in topics but just don't have the time to come to the forums to check for content, the proactive email notifications are far more useful. It would be great to get them working correctly again.

We're talking about threads you're already subscribed to here, not new activity/ topics. Doesn't really matter how frequent you're on the site. When you do all those threads you're interested in go right to the top if there is new activity. Not much different than checking email

I have email notifications set up for threads AND for entire sections of the forum. I would routinely get daily notifications of new threads and threads with activity and immediate notifications of threads I directly subscribed to. With the email delivery issues that are now present, I get NONE of them.

I don't (won't) "wade through" all of the activity of "New Posts" trying to discern what's a new discussion versus what has new comments on an old discussion and the notifications offered a way to do a quick scan of those things in a way that was broken down a bit more categorically.

I said nothing about using new posts. Checking subscribed threads is your best bet now

As I mentioned earlier...

I am not actively opening the forum to look to see if there are responses. The notifications not working is detrimental to the forums.

Something has clearly happened that is causing the emails sent by this forum to be regarded as straight-up SPAM because Gmail and Yahoo won't even ACCEPT the emails any longer and even attempting to FORCE the emails to not be seen as junk by Hotmail doesn't keep them out of the SPAM folder.

In the event that you're interested, I -may- have uncovered why ALL of the email problems are occurring...

The notifications are configured to be sent from <admin@www3.camaro5.com> but they are actually arriving via www4.camaro5.com. Additionally, while there are DMARC records for the various domains (camaro5.com, camaro6.com, etc.) there are no records for the actual domain listed in the emails: www3.camaro5.com.

Since there is no record present, every receiving email system gets to choose what to do with unverified emails by default. Gmail and Yahoo! seem to be configured to be much more strict and completely discard them while Hotmail (and likely other MS-based domains like outlook.com) are allowing them in but FORCING them to the Junk Folder and not allowing users to override that handling.

For the couple of minutes it takes to add a DMARC record for www3.camaro5.com, it might be worth testing.

I was getting notifications at my hotmail acct when folks sent me a PM on the forum stating that, but as of lately, nothing in my inbox, junk, or spam. They just stopped altogether. . I didn't change anything.

For me, they at least DELIVER to my Hotmail account... Gmail and Yahoo don't come through at all. I also own a couple of domains of my own that are set up to receive email, and I wasn't getting anything there either.

For Hotmail, I believe you have to be using the basic mode for filtering (not "Strict") or the emails might be blocked out entirely.

Yep, mine is on basic, like I said, I was getting them, and all of a sudden, notta.. But I'm not concerned about it because I'm on here just about everyday, and when I log on, if someone PM'd me, ya get a popup message. All cool..

Same here...

I just use this link as my bookmark favorite.
https://www.camaro5.com/forums/subscription.php

Never wanted a bunch of e-mails anyway so easy to just check the subscribed threads link.

The same happened to me with my private domain so I switched to Gmail and it worked for a while but really don't care for an e-mail anyway. Even for reported posts. I also have a camarofans.com domain that used to work but not anymore.

Now... strangely my very old TapaTalk e-mail notifications started working

Heck the Admin of this site doesn't even get e-mails anymore. Feel free to PM Tran if this stuff bugs you enough.

Cool Mike, thanks. Like I said, it isn't a problem, it's just one less email I have to look at and delete. And nah, it isn't going to bug me enough to raise a stink about it. I have better things to do with my time on here, like report nuts and spammers!! And be helpful to those in need!! lol. Thanks for all you and SSE do for us..

Looks like Tran may have been lurking and saw what I posted before because emails are now configured as coming from admin@camaro5.com and are delivering to Gmail again. Granted, they are currently landing in SPAM and will need to be flagged accordingly for a bit, but there was definitely a change made and they're coming through again.

Fingers crossed it stays that way for you.

My personal domain just started receiving e-mails today too, but I only subscribe to PMs and Reported posts/threads.

Yes you figured out the main problem and its much appreciated, there were a few other little things that got sorted too. It seems to help if you indicate that the message is NOT spam in gmail. It helps for your own inbox obviously but I think gmail also understands that signal for everyone else too
