I did realize that it is Hellcat / ZL1 fast. Since this is a U-drag requiring braking and cornering I thought the Mach E GT would come out of the corner ahead and that the Charger would have to catch it before it crossed the line. Apparently the Charger corners a helluva lot better than I thought it would. The g-force was ridiculous. Then I have to remember that it has a $#!t-ton of battery mass riding low that lowers the center of gravity.

Not sure if that Charger had them... the brakes are 16" (normal on the Camaro, Mustang, ICE Dodge are 15.4") on sticky tires with the correct version of the car. Not sure why they had a hard time braking, I would rather get jason cammisa or randy pobst take on the braking than these 2 "screen guys"

It weighs more than my truck though LMFAO!

Batteries are heavy bruh. The battery alone in the Hummer EV weights as much as a Civic.

Since you brought it up.

Crank windows is very nice. Still having steering wheel controls is an eyesore, same with phone holder. Too much safety nanny tech like everything new. I don't really care they're all gray, but they should pick white. Needs bigger beds on a frame to be a pickup. EV is going to limit the appeal.

The square SUV top with spare on the tailgate looks good. This would be a good Chevy/GMC, with that shape, 4 doors, fold flat passenger seating load floor, 4.3 stick awd.

Lots of comparisons being made to a stripped down hybrid Ford Maverick. A lot more capability for not much more money. If I was shopping in that space, I'd take the Maverick.

I can't believe GM is still not playing in the space below the midsize twins. GMC Hummer H3 BEV. Do it. The "light" off-road model/trim is printing money right now. Smaller SUT and SUV combo here with removable roof panels and Hummer capability.

I wouldn’t assume that nothing is going on there. GM has quite an aggressive EV roll-out in progress now. Trying to catch up all the stuff that was supposed to launch in 2023 & 24. That would naturally push back any plans for a mid-size PU / SUV. I would expect that there are smaller Hummer versions coming, but compared to everything else on their plate right now, what’s the rush?

Just the Cadillac brand alone has Optiq, Escalade iQ, and Vistiq all in launch / ramp mode now. Chevrolet and GMC are introducing lower trims of the Silverado and Sierra EVs. Buick will need something like yesterday because they are about to be sledgehammered in the new Trump tariff world. They only have one vehicle in the portfolio that isn’t imported. Plus CT4 and CT5 end of life has already been announced so expect EV sedans to come from Cadillac soon. So, yeah, mid-size pickups and smaller Hummers are likely coming, but back burner. Especially since Colorado / Canyon are selling well.

A small SUT/SUV combo from GMC would fill two holes in the portfolio. I noticed on my block a neighbor came home with not one, but two, Bronco Sports. I don't know if those were panic buys (given prospective tariffs and MSM fear mongering). GMC could build a BEV Maverick/Bronco Sport type combo. That would be cool.

Completely subjective/opinionated, but one journalist's thesis on what makes ICE fun, and EVs "not so fun". I tend to agree.

https://www.theautopian.com/i-drove-...-cars-and-fun/

All of it was fun: the noise, the smells, the shaking, the shifting, the fighting with the steering, the raw mechanicalness of it all, all of the things that make it inefficient and uncomfortable and laborious, those are the things that give the car character.

There’s no drama to the Blazer EV SS; sure, Chevy tried to program some in, making you select the WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode to unlock an extra 100 hp and the car’s full potential, but it’s just like putting flame stickers on a beige office filing cabinet.
