I think there are three CTs in my town.
Work is a whole different world. We’re on the 11th floor of a tower and have one floor dedicated to my company and another company in the parking deck. Just on our floor there are typically a dozen or so EVs. One charger. Should also mention Lucid is on the 9th floor of our building. That’s the company we share a parking deck floor with so there’s always 3 or 4 Lucid Airs on the parking deck.

Im now 2 years into the lease on my Audi etron station wagon so checked what it would cost me if I wanted to buy it.

Original list price was £84K, after 12 months you could buy the same car, registered but with 0 miles for £50K.
24 months in and I can buy it for £35K, I expect it to drop to £25Kish after 36 months Ill probably buy it and keep it forever as its a lot of car for that kind of money

Ive also had some friends look into similar deals recently - monthly cost is 10-15% more than I agreed in 2023 but deposits are huge, Porsche want £5K against a Macan, Audi £13K against an etron ........... I paid £1 deposit for mine.

Dealers here have clearly taken a big hit on overestimating resale values, now trying to claw some of it back. Who knows whether they will be sucessful?

That's cool. I have yet to see a Lucid in real life. There are quite a few Rivians here.

I should also note that our site has approximately 4500 people, mixed between manufacturing, R&D, and general office stuff, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised to see that many EVs. How does your charger work? We used to have to reserve ours a half-a-day at a time, but people weren't adhering to the rules, so they scrapped the reservation system.

First come first served. I never have to use it. My commute to work uses 1% of range. People have settled into a norm though. There are two spots for the one charger. People who are charging usually come out and unplug their car, plug in the car next to them and then re-park their car to allow someone else to park next to the car that is charging. Good etiquette.

GC = Grand Cherokee? If so then I’ll assume you are referring to the Wagoneer S, which is actually about the same size as a Grand Cherokee. The launch model is their top trim. It will be the only version available at launch, but there will be a lower trim at a lower price coming soon after. But still, Lyriq is placed in a higher valued competitive set and if you match them feature for feature, the Lyriq has better feature content, including features not even available in Wagoneer S, for roughly the same price, even though Cadillac is perceived as a more premium brand.

You have nice coworkers. The people who got the morning reservations never went back out to move their cars at lunch time. I don't really blame them either, because the spots are the closest to the lobby, but the lobby is still a long ways away, and that walk is bad when the weather is bad.

Our new lot has 4 or 5 chargers with 4 spots per charger, but the chargers only have 2 plugs. I'll be interested to see how parking is managed considering the signs read "ELECTRIC VEHICLE PARKING ONLY WHILE CHARGING."

Update: they turned the chargers on this morning. Fridays for us are "flex days" where most people work from home except for the few who want to come in, and the rest of us "lab-based" folks who can't do their jobs from home. Of all the available spots, only 3 were occupied, and only 2 of those were actually charging.

Surprisingly, on the way to the gym this morning I saw a new Charger Daytona! Couldn't get a pic but I must say IMO they look really good in person. They got the styling right.

You’re not actually surprised, are ya?
It will take awhile for sensibilities to return. If in fact, they ever do.

People just need to quit buying new cars period. That will force the companies to rethink their strategies in a lot of things. Pricing, drivetrain, features.

Just start telling car companies you want a nice comfortable car or SUV that you used to be able to buy for under $40k very well equipped not that long ago.

Thank God I’m set for at least the next 10 years. But if God fobud I HAVE to buy another car if my daily gets stolen or wrecked (I pray that never happens to the Camaro) I will buy used. Low mileage, gas V6 or V8, good condition used.

I think I’m done ever buying a new car again. Unless lots of things change.

All car prices are just going to go up up up with the tariffs. Won't even matter if every part of the car is full made in USA. Ford, GM, etc is not going to miss out on raising their prices as well, if we are paying more money for foreign-made competitors. It's a race to the bottom for the consumer. This is what the American people wanted, apparently, so enjoy.

Malbjey try living in Canada right now. It feels like things have been made more economically difficult on a whim and we're in for a ride in the coming years.

Most people would hand over all their data to see dog videos, cheap Chinese EVs might just have a place in North America if the most powerful country on the continent keeps sh*tting on their neighbours lawn.

As for EVs I like what I hear about the Scout. Probably need another 20 years of infrastrucure development before I'd consider one but a body on frame SUV capable of towing 7000lbs, and looks good, is basically what I need.
