It should be blatantly obvious even to the casual observer that the rocket logo on the LT6 is an indication that gm intends to bring Oldsmobile back.

I’ll assume you’re tossing that out tongue-in-cheek, but I’ll toss out the real meaning around it. I was still at GM when the Small Block Engine team unveiled the 5.5L internally as part of the C8 team celebration.

Short answer…Astronauts love Corvettes. Moon missions and space orbits were often preceded by astronauts taking photos in uniform or in gear with their Corvettes. So the theme of the 5.5L engine is Rocket and the casting figure is an Easter egg. So….nothing to do with Oldsmobile.

Well at least they used the proper “Mark of Excellence” GM logo and not the woke, -uss-fied electric appliance gm logo

I love the new logo, it's lit!

The old one reminds me of decrepit GM which went bankrupt, which would place that badge on a Cavalier. If the doors were misaligned, no big deal, just put your hand between the panel gaps and bend.

Lit

The square reminds me of Camaros, Trans Ams, Chevelles, real Impalas, even the 1980s and 90s G and H bodies and the ‘79-85 Eldorado/Riv/Toronado (350 diesel and HT4100 not withstanding)……All Cars I literally grew up with. All of them great cars. Took my driving test in an ‘85 Riv with the gas 307. Mom sold it in 1998 with 130,000 trouble free miles on it.

We may be the same age but is very clear I had a much better childhood than you

That's a bizarre and unfounded assumption to make about me, or anyone you don't actually know.

You need to have your humor sensor checked. The “service engine” light is flashing.

Probably needs a software update.

I made the proper corrections to my Camaro. Paying homage to the great roots and history of this nameplate and all the great cars made by the mighty blue square before Queen Mary castrated it…..

I’m also going to have a fab shop stamp a “protect-o-plate” for me with the VIN and option codes, build sequence (#220 of all 2024 production, final assembly date 8/12/23) etc

If I ever need warranty work I’ll hand the service writer my plate. They’ll either think it’s f’n cool or look at me like I have 3 eyes

After I get the plate I’ll print up an “official” warranty sheet as seen here and attach the plate to it.

I know GM stopped making the plates around ‘75 but for cars like the Camaro and Corvette they should have still made them. If anything just for the historical factor or coolness even if they don’t really mean anything on modern cars.

OPGI - Original Parts Group. The place for almost everything you need when restoring a classic GM vehicle. Right down to replicate door jamb stickers - and they make them out of real metal too, not fake rip-offs that are paper:

I should have saved the Protect-o-plate from my '69 Camaro that got wrecked in the '80s. I just wasn't thinking. Back then I was just a 20-something year old guy who thought he knew everything. Boy was I wrong.
