If my comments offended anyone, it was unintended. Naturally the person to blame is the thief, but IMO the owner does share some responsibility.
In a perfect world we could park our car anywhere we wanted and it would never be stolen or damaged, but unfortunately that isn't the case. It is almost a certainty that if we leave something of value unattended, someone will eventually steal it. That is even more true of something of great value such as a Camaro ZL1. I don't like that, but that's the way it is. It's just being realistic. Yes, the parking garage should be cleaned up and patrolled by law enforcement, but it's also a fact that law enforcement can't be everywhere all the time. Criminals are very enterprising individuals. If they are determined to steal a car, then as responsible car owners, all we can do to stop them is to try to limit the time that they have to do their crime. Even a super expensive theft deterrent system is no guarantee. Having a car parked, even in a public parking lot for a week gives a determined criminal plenty of time to do their thing, especially when all it takes for a professional car thief to steal a car is generally a few minutes. Again I'm sorry for the owner's loss, but in an imperfect world, there are just some things that should not be done. Just as I would never walk down the street in East St. Louis at 2 AM and expect not to be shot, or robbed, or attacked, I would never leave a super expensive car anywhere unattended. |

I would start here: https://www.iglausa.com/dealer-locator and this might help locate one too: https://iglaus.com/find-a-dealer/ If you can't find one, let me know and I can point you to the guy that installed mine. He is always training up new installers, and sometimes does trips to do installs. So should be able to help you locate someone |

Sorry to hear about that. It could be worse though.
Many years ago my inlaws took a trip to St.Thomas. When they came back not only was their car stolen from the airport but the thieves drove it to their house, got in with the garage door opener, and robbed them blind. |

Here is a suggestion for valuing your car with the insurance company. Go to the auto auction web site Bring a Trailer and get prices of sold equivalent cars. There are non for sale right now, but they have some historical pricing.

This is why you buy yourself a crusty daily driver when you have a high end sports/muscle car. I would of have ubered myself to the airport vs leaving a ZL1 in a unsecure parking garage.
Sorry this happened OP...but bro, htf did you not think this would happen considering all the recent posts of stolen Camaros

Maybe I just need to sell this thing. I don't need this stress on top of everything else. Supposed to be cruising it up to MA from TN in June and I'm sweating this BS, right down to where the hell to stay for lodging.

First of all you need a ticket to get out, so they basically had to get out of the car and press to get another ticket. There are camera's EVERYWHERE at airports so no way in hell they don't know who took it or have it all on video. Give me a break. Its a really sad world that you can't take your car to the airport and park it in what should be one of the most secure and recorded places in the US. It all goes back to prosecuting criminals. Somewhere along the line some idiots think its a good idea to let people steal things with no consequences. |

Not so funny story, back in 2019 my wife had a 2017 Charger Hellcat that we were going to trade to a dealership in NC. Our plan was to drive the car to NC, stay in a hotel about 2 miles from the dealership and trade it in first thing in the morning when they opened. We had already spoken to the salesman and had all the paperwork ready so it shouldn't have taken more than an hour in and out. We stayed in a Hilton hotel, parked the Hellcat right in front of the front entrance doors of the hotel under a light. Woke up the next morning and someone had shattered the driver's side window. Luckily the car wasn't stolen but it was a nuisance to have to get the local police, file a report, etc. Ironically, I had a $600 Escort Max 360c radar detector hanging from the rearview mirror and they didn't take it. The local cops said they were likely looking for guns since they get a lot of vehicle break-ins looking for guns. They filed a report and said they would contact us if they ever found out who did it but we never heard from them. They even had cameras outside the hotel facing the front entrance. Fortunately, the dealership took the trade and didn't lower our trade value, they understood what happened and said they would just get the window replaced. |
