$340 transmission fluid change?
Good morning all,
Quick back story, I’m 22 & this is my first V8. I purchase this vehicle (2020 Camaro SS A10) used and before I purchased I looked through the CARFAX. On the CARFAX the “oil and filter” and other minuscule things we done every 3k-5k miles; I don’t know for certain if the transmission fluid has been changed since it wasn’t stated on the CARFAX, so I’ll called to see how much it would be and it’s $340. I love doing my own car maintenance, but I heard the it’s best to leave a trans fluid change to a dealership. Does this price seem high or would I be better changing the fluid myself? Thanks,

Just do it yourself. Plenty of videos on Youtube of people doing it themselves.

When the dealer did the fluid swap to fix the 8-speed stutter issue on my 2016 Camaro (do a search, plenty of info on that here), he told me that it was 20 quarts of fluid at $20 a quart. Just make sure you are getting the correct fluid for that price is all I am saying!
Also, I wouldn't change trans fluid unless it is burnt smelling or you are at the factory recommended interval. -Geoff

What is the mileage on the car?
If you like doing things yourself, I would follow the above advice and check out youtube. I suspect most people are doing a partial fluid change (drain and refill) and not a full system flush, which is much more involved. |

I could not find the fluid change interval in the regular manual. However, the track supplement says to change the trans fluid after 15 hours of track time. So the change interval per this thread is between 15 hours and 65K miles.
I would change the fluid. Whether you do it or have it done, I would recommend changing it. |

On my 2016 it was 45k miles for trans fluid. Not sure if it changed with the 10 speed.
