"interested in the idea"

Jimmy FD43,

*Love* the idea, and agreed, probs not too tough to engineer and make. And you can put it on there ONLY when you are heading out on a longer trip!

I think we'd all like to see pics once you get it worked out.

Just because it doesn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you or others is how I look at it.

Are you having fun with your car? Are you having fun doing what you do? The answer is YES.

That is really all that matters....period.

A few hints:
*remove the lights first before the bumper cover.
*cut the new T-connector wires and run them thru the grommet, not the entire new plugs that go into the taillight as instructed.
*My left taillight was very hard to remove. I removed the 3 nuts holding it on but I had to pull VERY hard to remove it.

Don't bash me for a hitch. I jet ski a lot and have a truck but sometimes just taking the fun car is more enjoyable. I have always used cars to tow with zero issues.

Some pics of my last cars with hitches.

No bashing from me...I am in the process for adding one to my 2018 Convertible. It for my e-bike. I have also been trying to find a spare (donut) that will fit in the trunk for when I take a trip from NC to Miami or DC...to no avail. And then it hit me: I am waiting for the guy to call me back regarding the hitch install, SO, I am going to see if he can weld something together that a full-size spare can fit into. Should not be that difficult and I will have a custom tire cover made. As I am not a Camaro purist, and at my age, 81 chronologically, 16 mentally, and 45 physically (good genes...probably Jordache lol), I care not a whit what others think. IF you get to my age... see what I mean...lol. Has anyone thought of and tried...or failed, regarding the spare tire idea. Naysayers responding reference the look...tis ok, I really do not care, because I am more interested in the idea.
IF anyone has been thinking about doing this, and not being self-conscious about the ascetics from another Camaro enthusiast, the cost of the Draw-tite hitch (24938), no cutting or drilling, is less than $200 from ETRAILER...https://www.etrailer.com/tv-install-...38.aspx...This is a step-by-step video on installation. It should take about an hour to install by someone not mentally challenged... A local mechanic wanted $250...Nah, I'll do it myself. That price seemed a tad high. Inflation sucks. 2-day delivery, so I get it Friday...I'll post a happy ending...I hope...If not, I will have a beautiful 2018 CC convertible with 8000 miles and new custom interier for sale...sans back bumper...lol

My dealer cut my bumper because they install the Curt hitch -_- when I specifically asked months in advance if they require it and was told no cutting necessary. I knew the Draw-Tite existing and took no cutting so it made this 8x more maddening.

This is an interesting idea, I think your fabricator could help guide you on this. I'd like to see what it looks like when done, because I'm not sure how this would mount up/be designed.

One thing to be weary of here would be the tongue weight. I think I saw on the Camaro build configurator at the dealer that the Camaro is rated around 110 lbs of tongue weight (the hitch itself says 200 lbs). I have carried pretty much 110lbs (bike rack + trail bike + downhill bike) and it's kind of sketchy looking (a lot of wobbling when hitting bumps). It was much better with the Curt stabilizer strap (but still kind of iffy).

The vehicle is neither designed nor
intended to tow a trailer.

Bike rack? okay, but I wouldn't tow with it, ESPECIALLY a convertible!
