lifter problems again

All right guys so I got another failing lifter or lifters. After one night of wot pulls now I got a pretty noisy valve train again with one or two loud tapping sounds that change with rpm. The current lifters are the gm performance racing lifters (88958689). I'm wondering if maybe it could be a valve spring but don't really know how to check for that other than a visual inspection and a physical inspection of pressing on the valves to see if there is any give. The springs are btr .660, cam is GPI SS3 vvt, stock rockers with che trunnions with approximately 10k miles on them. Before the wot pulls it was a completely quiet valve train. So, I'm thinking I'm going to change my valve springs and lifters at the same time just to be safe and I was thinking of going with the johnson (2110R) lifters this time around but wanted some opinions on those lifters. One thing I can't find is the maximum rpm limit them and could I use the same pushrod length with the johnson's. Another thing I was wondering about is the lik bar style, should I get those or just the standard lifters to use with the treys? And then there are the short travel and slow leak down lifers. So what are your thoughts on these? Thanks

Joseph

^^ in regard to Johnson 2110’s look at post #3 where gm reported their testing on running Johnson 2110 in the copo and spinning then last 8500rpm’s

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ation-ls3.html

Here’s some info on running link bar lifters .

Sorry to hear your valve train messing up . I’m running Johnson 2110’r in my sierra denali going on 4yrs now with no problems .

As far as my Camaro I’m running the Johnson 2116 lsr short travel - link bars
I went with link bars as to get rid of the lifter trays as their the next weakest link , plus more stability in the valve train ,short travel tho give for more of a responsive / snappier motor . Valve train is running pretty quiet .

Only trade off is your going to have multiple length pushrods messing with short travel lifters .

As always you should measure push rod length - Johnson recommends adding 10 thousandths to their recommended preload for aluminum block motors .

When you get the heads off you should also have your valve guides checked

Also- I’m sure you know this - but check pushrods - make sure they haven’t developed a cats eye - or becam little bent .

I went with maton push rods for my Camaro - short travel link bars ended up with longer pushrods

2110 ended up slightly shorter pushrods as the 2110 are a little taller than the gm lifters .

I just went ahead and ordered the Johnson 2116LSR lifters from GPI. Their actually on sale right now. Thanks for the info buddy.
