I know you're watching the game, but when you can, I'm curious why you took the HX out of the loop.

It'll work just fine. The chiller just needs the AC compressor on. I run mine in the winter, AC on and heat turned up. Cold IATs and hot air in the cabin.

HX works against the chiller. It will heat up the super cooled coolant from the chiller. All chiller manufacturers will recommend removing the HX unless you have a 3 way valve.

Yes, but he had a valve and since removed it. I'm wondering why so I dont make a mistake if I get a chiller.

Ah, I see.

If I had to guess the stage 2 chiller is bigger and probably didn't leave enough room for the HX. Just a guess though.

what Shodown said is true. once you add the second condenser and fan there is no room for the hx. I do have to say that the stage 1 with the 4 way valve that i originally started with works just as well as the stage 2. Maybe a couple degrees colder with the stage 2. Knowing what i know now i would stay stage 1 with the 4 way valve.

Oh good to know. I didn't realize they used a second condenser as well. Thanks.

EDIT: I think you meant evaporator. I looked on their website and didn't see a condenser.
I've seen some people cut into the crash bar and install it in the bar. Not sure if it was a killer chiller of the FI Chiller tho.

I have a second crash bar from when I was try to put in a tow hook. Looks like a pretty involved installation for sure. Just wondering if having the 4 way valve and HX is worth the extra work just to be able to turn off the compressor. I usually don't drive the car when it's colder than 40°F outside because the tires suk.

The one benefit i can see is, if you have a a/c failure and the overall cost is less that doing the stage 2 upgrade.

So this is what FI advertises the stage 1 and 2 differences are. What is the real world that you saw?

32c (90f) day 10c (50f) IAT2 – Fluid temp 0c (32f) (Stage 1)
38c (100f) day 4c (39f) IAT2 – Fluid temp -6c (21.2f) (Stage 2)

thanks

This is what i experienced in my car. 80-85 degree weather. Keep in mind it’s always humid in the summer here which hurts the a/c performance.

Stage 1 with my 4 way valve and HX i was getting to 36-38 degrees ait2 on lower humidity days could get it to 35.

Stage 2 i would get it to 32 degrees max. I was only seeing 25 degrees because outside temp was 44 degrees.

Also the a/c charge plays a huge factor into it. I think when i was stage 1 i had a perfect a/c charge. I don’t think i got the charge perfectly for the stage 2 upgrade so it could be hurting performance.

If you sign up for their email service you’ll get some big discount deals. I scored the stage 2 from there discounts for $400.

I did sign up last night. I might do the stage 1, still trying to talk myself into the need. The car definately runs better when it's cooler so it would be nice to have that everytime I drive.

it also recovers faster than the HX did. I never got it retuned after the install to gain all the cooler temps. ill have it tuned when i go for e85 and heads for next summer. hopefully ill get to the 800 whp.
