...Am I the only one that wanted to do a drum solo on a JT9 engine fan?

For the record, this is a JT9.



We pulled all those blades off the front fan section for a lab. Which included removing that cone (I could use it as an igloo.. no lie) 4 retainer brackets.. and 45 blades.

Putting them back in was the drum solo temptation point.. wanted to go all Phill Collins on it.

*sigh* ill never have a 5th gen:(

if i go to a 2 year college for fire Science i would be camaroless for a while

if i go into the Military i will be camaro less


i can not go to college or the military for 3 years but i don't wanna do that

Odd thing is that none of those blades slip in one at a time. You have to put them all in just slightly, then tap around the fan little by little to seat the blades. It was so trippy looking through the fan toward the back.. almost kaleidoscopic. 35 turns or so of the fan later, the blades were seated..

A process that took an hour of metallic banging, and really sharp blades..

It was fun.
