In general, the BMW is a good looking car, but the Camaro is just in a differnt league

BTW I would honestly buy an M3 or Audi S5 if it weren't for the price. The Audi S5 is a gorgeous looking car. The stance is so aggresive. I would have to see the production Camaro in person to decide if its better looking than the Audi.

I agree, but they are too expensive for me. I was considering the new A5 but it still costs $45k with a few options. And the S5 is much nicer then the A5.

This is kinda like comparing apples to oranges...the 328i is a luxury coupe, the Camaro is a pony car. IMO, the Camaro's a better car, but there's plenty of people that will disagree.

LOL, your asking this question at Camaro forum. What kind of respond do you think you will get?

Same thing vice versa, if you ask this question at BMW forum, you know they will literally LAUGH you for comparing BMW with........GM.

And for my honest opinion, I would take Camaro SS over BMW 328i because that model is too underpowered.

BMW's are phenominal in the handling and performance departments. At the same time these two attributes don't always hold up with the actual experience. Older BMW's were much much better drivers cars than the current cars thanks to very simple but rigid engineering and quality standards the BMW's of today lack. That doesn't mean current BMW's aren't well made and built to a high standard, they are, just not as much as they once were. You can thank BMW's overzealous ambition to become the number one luxury auto maker for that. They've made a litany of compromises to be all things to all people in the midst of cutting costs to maintain profitability, and in the end this is good for sales (which is the whole point) but not good for the image and long term quality of the cars. So many folks think the 4yr "free" maintenance warranty is such a great deal, but what they don't see is that this has been put in place to drive sales for cars that people would otherwise be hesitant to buy because of the associated high costs of ownership, and you DO pay for that gimmick of a "free" warranty.

If you really have to have a new Bimmer though, the time is now; BMW has just stated they will be cutting 10k from allocation that would ordinarily be coming to the states thanks to the crappy exchange rate they're losing money on a lot of the cars they sell here.

I was eye-ing the 135i and while a very nice car to drive it's just not worth they money for the size and content you're getting, engine and all. The latter is the only reason you're buying the car anyway, which is enough for some people but not me.

The BMW looks good in general but they have kept the same look for too long and i agree, it does look dated.  But i gotta add, if i were BMW i wouldn't change the look that much either, why change?  Don't change it if people still love it ya know.

I've got a joke for you guys:

What is the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?

...

...

The BMW has its pricks on the inside.

Have you ever heard a liquid cooled VW or Audi that's valvetrain didn't rattle at 100,000 miles

Have you ever seen a VR6 go more than 130,000 miles on it's original timing chain.

How many 300,000 mile BMWs have you seen? Maybe an old 528e or two. 4000 rpm redline and 7.5:1 CR and you can make anything last forever

How many 300,000 mile Mercedes Benz gasoline powered engines? Sure, a 300SD will easily go that long but gasoline engines? not so much.

BMW switchgear is crap. Their electrical systems are the most 'normal' of the German cars, and it's crap.

Then they stick you with that horrible i-drive. The concept of having a mouse-like controller isn't bad. BMW's execution is terrible.
Es ist scheize.

Older BMWs?

Cardboard dash? That's a sign of quality.

3 feet of imprecise shifter throw. Yep. That's a true driver's car.
Seriously. From 1st to 2nd gear in an E30 is like from the dash to the backseat.

The heavy gauge vinyl is better than American or Japanese vinyl....I'll give them that. But then again, Vinyl was only in the mos base model of US and Japanese cars. Even the 3rd gen 2.5 Camaro had cloth inserts on the vinyl seats

Yeh, older Bimmers. Apparently you don't have your head to deep into the Bimmerphile world, because there are quite a few high milage Bimmers (among many other Germans) out there. But I do agree they break easily.

The BMW looks slick, but I think the Camaro has a more timeless look to it. Even if the aerodynamic functionality isn't there, the Camaro has a more classic appeal. The BMW will be out of style in just a few years, but the muscle car look is timeless.
