Reminds me of Ronald Regan:
“Most Terrifying Words – ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Even though, I am too young to even know those times, lol.

Chevrolet Blazer RS trim to start at over 60 grand. RWD version at over 62 grand.
Roughly 16+ grand higher than the ICE version. Factoring in the better interior in the EV version, and some of the additional "wow" factor, that's still a big "nope" from me. That amount of money buys nearly 100 thousand miles worth of gas at $4 a gallon averaging at 24 mpg (we currently average better than that with our 2020 Blazer RS with the V6) Doesn't make sense yet.

A tax break on real estate is designed to attract jobs to a specific area, not to inflate sales the way EV subsidies do. |

Oil company subsidies have been on the books for more than a century. Oil companies also receive massive tax breaks since its considered a vital commodity Electric usage is also taxed on usage and now most states are adding an additional fee upon license plate renewals for EVs to make up for the loss of the gas tax Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Anyone seen the GVW numbers on these EVs? How much wear are they putting the roads compared to similar ICE vehicles? |

Yes, I know it’s Florida and the south in general but, nevertheless, it will happen around the country. You won’t get free electric nor will it stay cheap. They will need to make upgrades and everything gets passed onto the consumer.

Anyone who's paying attention should be able to conclude that EVs are being treated preferentially while ICE vehicles are being penalized. By the same token, if you think the government is favoring oil companies in some way, you're not paying attention.
Debating those two things is like debating someone who says water isn't wet. A waste of time. |

Anyone see the ship fire off the coast of the Netherlands? 3600 cars of which 498 were EVs. According to the Dutch Navy the fire started in the batteries of an EV. Good thing the environmental damage will be “green”.

On a new vehicle, would it more likely be a defect from a short or unsealed Li-ion?
I'm guessing more EV fires on land are a result of overcharging a weak or unbalanced cell. Lithium by itself can break a water or CO2 molecule. LiFePO4 is the safest of the EV chemistries (though they supposedly suck in cold weather). If the regime was as overbearing with EVs as gas vehicles... all of these batteries would be built with fire suppression jackets, each cell would get a voltage and a temp or pressure sensor (as part of an OBD system), all EVs would be capable of cell balance charging. https://www.reddit.com/r/interesting..._an_explosion/ https://www.amerex-fire.com/upl/down...s-937ba832.pdf |

I can't stand the mentality of many EV owners, who believe everyone must switch over to EV to save the planet. I believe in nothing most of them do, been kicked off of two Tesla forums already. Im trying to get out of this Hole called a Tesla. when you buy a Tesla the resale is absolute junk because of the EV tax credit.
can be fast, but boring. |

What I can't stand is that these EV promoters are basically operating as the 'useful idiots' of the 21st century. Little do they know that their fellow travelers are using EVs as a stepping stone to a complete ban on private transportation.
"Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is appointing a group of "leading experts" to advise him on "transportation equity," including several who argue that cars cause climate change and promote racism and therefore should be phased out." "Veronica Davis, argued in an August essay that cars perpetuate "systemic racism" and are therefore "the problem" in America's transportation system." "If we just replace all the gas-powered cars with EVs, we're going to have many of the same problems that we have with gas-powered cars," she told the Free Beacon. https://freebeacon.com/energy/all-ca...-stop-driving/ And of course there's the chance your car will catch on fire when you most need it. Who knew that cars occasionally get wet and if you live close to the ocean that sometimes they are exposed to salt water. https://www.abcactionnews.com/idalia...after-flooding |

Not even going to mention the additional 12 billion dollar government injection that's being talked about being done for the flagging EV market.
This goes back to the fact that if EVs were such a great idea, people would line up to buy them. But they're not. A 55% increase in sales from last year doesn't impress me when you're making 3% of the market share. Going from 3 to 6 isn't what I'd call fantastic when you look at real numbers. The biggest factor, in my opinion is "fear of running out" and the reality of actually owning an EV. People don't trust an EV thinking they'll run out of juice on a trip leaving them stranded. Mainly due to the infrastructure not up to par to support charging stations in more places. Then, people think they can buy an EV for $45K or so, when the real cost of them is 60 or 70 thousand. At some point, the purchase subsidies will stop. And when they do, so will EV sales. And one more issue that I didn't give much thought to until the hurricane hitting Florida was you don't want to escape in an EV. The salt water and battery interaction has already burned up a few cars that flooded out with salt water. Not good. I believe EV's won't be really viable until they figure out the cost of the batteries and the makeup of the batteries. New technologies are coming. We'll just need to wait and see how they pan out.
