i don't know what nhl09 had the same controls but in nhl10

you use the right analog stick to check and shoot, to shoot you pull back on the analog and push it forward for a slap shot for a wrist shot you just push forward

to check u push forward on the analog when you don't have the puck

ive laid/checked a ton of people out in it (and they have laid me out also)
