BTW. I feel especially bad for letting Chris down. He's the one who started this thread and I took it to heart. I really did. He even followed up with me. AND he tried to help me with my car along with other mods and I was ashamed. After my relapse, I just kept quiet and Spike had a good point. It's dishonesty by non-disclosure. I guess he's right, but how exactly does that conversation work? "Hey guys, I'm smoking again."? So I'm to be an attention whore?
![]() Maybe. But I just didn't want to do that. A lot of guys tried to help me. PMs and on the boards. I was just too ashamed to say anything. Some still have it in their sigs and such. Supermans, Sorry dude. I'll get this thing kicked by the fest. Sooner if possible. I really do feel horrible for letting you guys down, but if you can find it within yourselves to forgive me then I can kick this thing. How many really kick it on their first try? Not making any excuses, because I have none, (well actually I have plenty but they are what they are. Stupid and invalid.) I don't feel stupid at all for letting a bunch of people on a web forum make me feel this way because this place is awesome and you guys are all great. Having met a lot of you, and spoken on the phone with even more, I really take it seriously. Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. I believe my decision must come within myself and I was caught off-gaurd last time. I'll make it happen. I'm ready to. You guys don't judge me too harshly and it will be easier to be open about it. I'm going to try the Chantix. A few of you swore by it, (you know who you are) and we'll see how I do. I DO have the desire, so hopefully I can report back soon with some success. Again, Chris, I'm truly sorry. You must think I'm a slug. I'm not a dishonest person. I have my faults, but dishonesty is NOT one of them. I'll make you guys proud. PQ |

I'm thinking about changing the title of this thread..... Quote:
you guess I'm right? ![]() ![]() seriously tho, you'll get it. whenever you get a craving, just think of me whisking Bonnie away from you.... ![]() in your car.... ![]() then coming to your house to cut down a tree and only cutting down half of it and then leaving it all in your yard. ![]() ok.... again..... seriously. Chantix is a hell of a drug. I dont remember who I PM'd with last week about it but what you can do, instead of taking it on a daily basis, is take the pills, cut a few of them in half, whenever you feel the craving coming on, take half a pill. if the craving persists, take the other half. if it still persists... think of us standing there with you. hell, call some of us up, I know you have some of our numbers. send a text, whatever. come on here and post. I'd rather have you addicted to C5 than to cigarettes. C5F or bust! btw... you did inform Bonnie of our contractual agreement about you quitting by C5F right....? Ze consequences will be dire....

I’m right there with you PQ. Sitting somewhere between ex-smokers saying “If I can do it anyone can.” and non-smokers telling me “Quitting is easy, just don’t do it”.
There are times when it really sux being in the middle. ![]() Don’t beat yourself down because it didn’t stick the last time. I don’t know of anyone that made it the first attempt. For that matter even the second or third try. We just have to keep at it, good days and bad. Every good day makes the hold nicotine has on us a little weaker. I hesitate on the Chantix also, don’t have a lot of warm fuzzies about the idea. If you do give that a try please let me know how it goes. Hang in there PQ and give nicotine another kick in the a**. You did good last time.. better this time. |

Dude, I'm glad you trying again. In 30 years of smoking I quit more times than I care to count. Keep a positive attitude and know you are bigger and better than those smokes and you get there. I'm one of the success stories of chantix, the only side effect I had was the wild assed dreams. Reminded me of my younger... oh never mind... you have a great support network and your two million reasons to quit. Hang tough!

Hey pg, I know exactly what your going thru and how you feel. Dont get down on yourself for starting again, when the time is right you will quit.
My story real quick, I have been a smoker since I was 17 or so. Both of my parents are smokers. At 20 I married a smoker. Pregnant 3 times and quit with each pregnancy swearing to never smoke again, ya right. 7 or so years ago my husband decided we were both going to quit, he did, I lasted 6 weeks. I hated the world, I was miserable and told him I was going to start smoking or kill someone and he was first on my list! About 2 years ago I used Chantix (only problem I had with it was feeling sick to my stomach) and quit for a year. ( I know 3 people that used Chantix and started smoking again) It is so hard for me because I love it, I am sure all the non smokers reading this will think that is disgusting, and I enjoy it. BUT what I hate about smoking is spending $6 a day for cigs, smelling like a freakin ash tray, standing outside on my patio or in my garage to have one because I don't smoke in our house or cars, excusing myself when out with friends to go have a quick cig, and knowing how bad it is to my health. I haven't been able to quit for good because I (and I stress I) am not ready to. Now, YOU can quit for all the right reasons, your wife, your kids, your health, your camaro (LOL), your friends on this forum, but until YOU are truly ready to quit because YOU want to it isn't going to happen. So, when you are ready, pick a quit date, make sure you have the gum, patches or whatever you are going to use to help you get thru this, have water bottles on hand (it helps to drink alot of water) and have a plan on what you can do (go for a ride, take a walk, call a friend) when the urge gets to you. I wish you much luck, your on the right track because you're trying, don't give up on yourself. |

Eat ice. Lots of it. Sonic has the best. I ate the hell outta some ice when I quit smoking 8 yrs ago. I tried chewing gum but when I spit it out I wanted a smoke to get rid of the taste (kinda like needing a smoke after you eat). Ice doesn't have a taste so it didn't have that effect. It also keeps your hands and mouth busy. Last but not least, the extra water helps flush the toxins from your system quicker, thereby shortening the withdrawal phase. Good luck, man, you can do it. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. I do NOT like to tell myself no. :sigh: Now if I could just give up sweets and exercise more.

PQ - Everytime you get the craving, suck down 20 oz of water. You will get to the point where you either just can't drink anymore or you will have to piss every 5 seconds and won't have time for a cig... Good luck buddy... You are so dedicated in other things - you are stronger than "it" is. No doubt. |
