Back to Stock

Live in California and purchased an out of state ZL1 with a few mods including a 103mm tb. Will need to get inspected by the DMV so have to return the car back to stock. I’m not sure if the supercharger is ported(not sure if the 103mm is a giveaway to the SC being ported), but would it be possible to put back the 87mm oem tb with some adapter? I see Solar makes a 95mm to 103mm tb adapter which gave me the thought of installing the lt5 tb and hoping the dmv employee doesn’t notice. Would much rather install the 87mm to not take the risk.

Well the Lt5 might be just as much of a give away as the a 103mm. Will either one pass smog? Doubt it since the 103 would need some tuning on the Maf tables compared to an 87mm. The 87mm has the same bolt pattern as the 103, it's the 95mm Lt5 that has the different bolt pattern. So you can put the 87mm TB on a 103 snout although it would be like throwing a hotdog down the hallway, (old girlfriend joke) so you'd be better off doing that to get thru the DMV, they won't know the difference in the two snouts but might ask about the adapter for the 95mm TB. Do you have the stock 87mm TB?

It’s not the smog I’m worried about as I can get that to pass. I simply want to pass the inspection first. So to my understanding, if anyone else can confirm, the oem tb will bolt right onto a ported SC without an adapter? I don’t plan on pushing the car nor mind getting it tuned properly. I plan on purchasing the 87mm tb. Car also has a 10 bolt grip tech pulley. How much of a hassle would it be to replace to the stock tensor or could I just slap on the stock size pulley?
