Swapping to 3.55s

Just spit balling here so bear with me.

Current gears are 2.92s and looking to go to Richmond 3.55s and maybe a limited slip if they make one to fit my 2LS axle (might be wishful thinking on that tho.) Then some programming for the car recognize the new gears. Figure shop does all the work.
How much would something like that run ballpark?
Couple grand?

Getting the ducks lined up in my head as I've always added something to it every anniversary of it's purchase date.

the 6 speed manual cars(6 cylinder) are limited slip arent they?dont know what ratio they came with but id bet its around 3:27.might be worth your time to look into a used rear axle and install it yourself...

Or maybe find a "gently used" SS manual 3.45 assembly. Should bolt right in (famous last words). A Detroit Locker unit is usually a drag race only type thing unless you don't mind chirping the tires everytime you make a sharp turn.

Off the top of your head about how many hours labor would the dealer give for a gear change?

Huh.
This might be a moot point since I'm not seeing the 3.55s available for my axle anymore.

Found this on the e-bay inter web, Hawk selling this entire ZL1 3.73 kit and caboodle for only $6000. Nice to have if you ever give that V6 a 250 shot o' nitrous. LOL!

Holy shit 6K???? Am I the only one who hates hawkes? Lol

I know the ZL1 stuff is unobtanium any more from GM but that seems pretty steep. I could do a lot with a SS rear setup for 6K.

I just had this done on my SS. There are some differences in the differential but I think the manual LS is the same as the SS rear diff. Gears and bearings are going to run 500 to 800. If you use a GM set they are slightly cheaper. I wanted 3.73 and so I bought aftermarket Yukon gears the parts were $800. Ring and pinion with 3.27, 3.45, and 3.91 ratio can be bought from GM for a few hundred less.

Local speed shop installed the gears and my Eaton TrueTrac upgraded limited slip at the same time so the prices might be off a few dollars either way. The total came to around 1500 so around $750 for the install. Shop rate here is $125/hour.
