Yes, sometimes the updates are fluffy, like at holidays time they sent an update so you car could be a musical light show. It is smart from a marketing perspective to keep the attention. Some updates are bug fixes. Some have great features like Brake Hold, which didn’t exist when I first bought the car. Think about that, Brake Hold was added via an OTA update. You just can’t do that with traditional vehicle systems.

Another one was the backup camera. At first it only displayed the rear camera when backing up then they added the option to see the side cameras in a composited view. But yes, they do add other stuff like games, Hulu, Tiktok, etc. but people like that shit.

The Tesla the interior is average, the build quality is average at best but the powertrain, charging network, software and UI are fantastic.

I watched the unveil because I thought it was going to be cool even though I was skeptical based on your info. It was not.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts

I really don't think that it should be something that it's not. It shouldn't have fake exhaust noises. However, I understand why they did it. It's a crutch, an olive branch for the reluctant to grasp onto. Basically, the Nicorette gum for a smoker trying to kick their addiction.

While I get it, I don't agree with it. I wouldn't utilize anything that created fake noises. Just let the vehicle itself create, or not create, whatever noises it makes naturally. It isn't going to kill anyone if their car doesn't make a particular noise.

I do give them credit for that. They are trying. The question I have is why? Why try so hard to replace a car that is selling well? Keep selling it!

It does look nice, but so does the current Challenger. Mustang or Vette may be my next purchase 5 years from now. And I never thought I’d have a Ford in my garage.

This brings up the question, in 10 years from now will our V8s be beloved or ostracized? I assume both.

yeah, I was being kind of silly. but I do believe there are regulations in some parts of the world that prohibit "sharp surfaces" for pedestrian safety. As if a squishy pile of flesh and bone was any match for two tons of rigid material in motion.

As someone who has had 3 different variants of the Challenger Scat Pack including a Wide Body words can't explain how much of a monumental failure of a presentation this was. I was assuming based on Jonny Lieberman's article in Motortrend and the verbiage Tim was using that they would announce ICE along side EV for a few years but instead we got this hot garbage.

For reference, he said on Day 1 the Hemi is done in the LX platform. Why specify in the LX platform why not just say Hemi is done period? Also, wtf is this design they chose? It looks like neither like a first gen charger nor a daytona. What they ended up with is a gimicky (fake noise/shifting) EV that actually makes Tesla look respectable. Then the whole angle of it. I mean he's really trying to sell us on the idea that it's still a muscle car because the people who buy it are the tatoo'd rebels in the brotherhood of muscle who go against the grain and by the Dodge EV cause SUV's outsell cars 4:1 because Dodge?

This thing sounds like a dying panther and looks nothing like an of their heritage models. Tim will go down as the guy who both saved and destroyed Dodge. At the very minimum they could have designed a respectable EV that looks like a true classic and just let it be what it is.

Idk rant over, I always said my 18' SS 1LE was a far better car anyways. I'll be ordering a 23' now and hope it actually gets made. Words just can't explain how unbelievably silly the whole thing was.

One final thought Dodge should have realized that beside the very small percentage of enthusiasts like us no one give a shit about performance. If the public did then the Camaro would be outselling the Challenger 10:1 considering every single comparable model is both faster and handles better than the Challenger. No one cares how fast their EV is and they never will.

did you hear how it sounds ? When I first saw it I laughed out loud, but when I heard it I almost threw up. My first challenger V6 sounded better stock…

Yep, they are trying to inject personality into an EV and I am not sure it if it will work or not. Tim said him self multiple times that this is not their choice, the rules have changed and they are trying their best to play by them and still have some fun.

To your point, the EV minivans will be able to crank out 3 second 0-60mph times so who cares. 0-60mph is no longer a meaningful metric in EVs, they all feel quick enough because the power delivery is instantaneous.

It sounded like a digital feral wild cat. If this is what they are trying to do they should just sample like a hundred different sounds and let folks choose what ever they want. you also don't have to blast it outside the car. Just take advantage of a high end audio system to better reproduce the proper frequencies.

Regardless, the other sensation you lose is the vibration and rise and fall of the RPM and mechanical feel of the gear shifts. All that engagement and personality is tough to give up if you are an enthusiast.

EVs are smooth and silent, just appreciate them for what they are. My Model 3 handles surprisingly well with it low CG and it weighs 3,648lbs, but has a mid engine handling feel since it is single motor.

Yeah, it is weird. These cars are quick but rarely does anyone launch them from 0-60mph. Most EV drivers are shooting for max range and wind up being light on the pedal.

The most satisfying part of driving an EV for me is the 30-60mph instant passing power. It is effortless and immediate as you don't require any sort of downshift and building of torque.

One part of the new EV car that they are making that I do like is that is has an enormous hatch back. Seems like a great use of space, but the whole speaker thing is pretty dumb.
