Kind of what I was alluding to. They can't just plop 15% ethanol into every blend. We typically have 87, 89 and 93. Every once in a rare blue, a station with E85, at least here on the Island of Long.

So is all gas now going to have E15? Or is it going to be specified at the pump?

Sheetz around here have E15 88 oct that is a separate pump and tank from the E10 blends. But from what I gather, the feds want to replace E10 with E15. My lawn equipment hopes I'm wrong. Gonna suck to drive 20 miles to the closest non-ethanol station.

Everything here is E10, no such thing as non-ethanol in these parts. I have been using TruFuel for my lawnmower, snowblower, etc., etc....only non ethanol fuel choice we have. Plus, TruFuel has built in stabilizer! Perfect when storing the yard equipment.

I’ve gotten a little more educated on the subject.

After reading the article, my first thought was the government was going to allow the alcohol content in all blends of gas to go from 10% to 15%. That is not the case. As laynlo15 pointed out, E15, also known as E88, has been around for awhile. Up until now, the EPA has prohibited the sale of E88 from June through September because it produces higher pollutants. The Biden Administration is going to temporarily suspend that rule for this summer and maybe permanently to supposedly increase the supply of gas and reduce the cost.

Since E88 is not available everywhere, I suspect the impact will be minimal. In my situation there is ONE station within a 50 mile radius of my house selling E88. Not very convenient. As others have stated, all other blends will continue to contain 10% alcohol.

I apologize for the confusion.

Hell we have had that option for awhile at some stations here. Never have used it though. On top of that we have E10, E20, E50 and E85 options as well. Casey's starting offering a 88 "cleaner" octane fuel a couple years back as well. E15 alcohol content can range from 10.5%-15% per law. But what I don't get is around our area, all these different ethanol options are available all year-round?

Trying to bring up politics and then EV. Brilliant.

Do you possibly mean "tone" rather than "tune"?

I mean, there are still a lot of older cars on the road today that can't take E15 because ethanol is pretty corrosive. The change of concentration may or may not be an issue.

Meanwhile.....

Fertilizer costs have doubled over last year and there aren't any EV tractors to plant and harvest crops...

Doubt it's going to drop gas prices that much.

Yep, dropped my lawn care service after I got the quote for this years costs. Feel bad for them, I bet they are losing a lot of business. I'll let the weeds grow. Good for the honey bees anyway.

You might want to start selling some of your fleet then if you're concerned about getting walked by an Ev.
