Sponsor me?

Apparently some kids at my school (mostly my friends) do a senior year cross country trip. The point is to get together the nicest cars out of the group of people and everyone pitches in for gas/food etc.

Im in my junior year right now so all the juniors are still planning ahead. Do you think trying to get random people to sponsor me would work? Id like to be able to take a new camaro on it. I live in NC and we would be heading to California and back. I think the average time is 2 weeks or so.

Im thinking about getting people to document the trip and record peoples reactions. Im not sure what others will be driving and who is going right now but I think it would be cool to drive a camaro the entire way.

Is that just stupid to try and get people to sponsor me and help pay for a new camaro?

Also anyone have any fun suggestions for the trip regardless of the cars driven.

sorry but am I understand you correctly?

**You want to ask people to give money to buy you a new Camaro so you can drive it to CA and back? Is the trip about who has the nicest car? Why not borrow your parents' cool car or ride with someone else and split the cost? Why not drive your Del Sol?

**What is wrong with our youth today?!!?

Or are you asking people with Camaro along the trip route to give you a ride in their Camaro to get you to your destination and then back?

Not stupid....................just unlikely, especially after 8 posts. No one even knows you here so I think it's a bit of a stretch that they would wnt to "sponsor" you.

But you weren't clear on what you meant by "sponsor"

Even if was just for gas for the trip I do not see it happening. Where would the ROI be for the company?

I has 18 national sponsors on my last Corvette (one of which was Xbox, it was the only car in the country sponsored by them.) It was a lot more work than just posts it was a 10 page proposal and a lot of hard work and $$.

I work the allowed hours for my age at 8 bucks an hour. I pay for my insurance on my del sol and gas etc. My friends sister want to go on a vacation with some friends to France and she went around getting people to "sponsor" her. She ended up earning enough for the entire trip. I guess the word sponsor is used really loosely in what I was meaning.

At the moment im thinking about renting one (Which I don't think I can legally do)

Any extra cash i have gets put away into my "Camaro fund" haha - which has about 400 bucks in it

and there are lots of things wrong with our youth today... nothing pertaining to this discussion tho

Smartest thing a youth today can do is invest in a Dave Ramsey. Go read the part about buying a car brand new full retail+ off the lot (Your $ or not). Keep saving...these cars used will be far more affordable when your ready son.

...Then you don't get a Camaro.

Most of us here had to work really hard to afford our nice rides. What will you have done?

Give you money for a $22K car so you can drive it cross country? Uhh.....no. you should look into renting a Camaro from Hertz or Avis for 2 weeks and it would still be cheaper than whatever you'd get from sponsorship. Please rethink your strategy. The idea is nice, but not realistic.

You can do it if you truly want to IMO. I drove a 36k dollar car in 1993 in High School and I was paying for it on my own. I waited tables on the weekends. My parents did co sign for me though.
