At the same time, a guy should not 'OVERDO' the compliment thing.

supply and demand... where there is a high supply, the demand will decrease which means the compliments won't be worth as much. You gotta find that equilibrium.

agreed...example in the past 6 months of my relationship i could count on one hand how many times he has complimented me...but i had to tell him it bothered me and now when he tells me it seems pointless

Yep, there's a fine line. You want to be honest and say what's bothering you, but if you feel they're just saying it so you can no longer complain that they don't, there's no point.
