Help with maf short circuit - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey guys hoping someone could point me in the right direction. One of the ribs of my belt separated and slung off. It took the maf harness with it. I have rewired everything (5 wires) extended them and got them out the way. I’m still not reading maf, or quite a few other parameters. All 5 wires were jumbled together when I realized what was wrong so everything shorted out. Wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what fuse I need to change.. or where I need to begin testing. Info in pictures. Thanks in advance.

I was hoping someone would answer your question about which fuse, because I don’t know off hand, but I noticed no one responded yet. If you find the corresponding fuse and it’s intact, I’d check continuity through each of your repaired wires to make sure your connections are all good. If they’re all sound, I’d trace the wires back through the split loom to see if there is any other damage breaking the circuit. A wire may be torn apart inside of the insulation or even pulled loose from where they terminate. I know it doesn’t answer your initial question but I hope this helps. Worst case, it’ll bump it to the top so someone else can see it and maybe respond with your answer. Good luck

Sorry that happened. Nice job on the rewire. Any chance the short took out the MAF sensor? Sometimes shorts get past fuses in quick enough to do damage to the circuit it's suppose to protect. Fuse # 14 in the under hood fuse panel.

My problem turned out to be an exposed wire at the passenger side of engine. The 2011 uses a metal clamp to hold the wiring loom. it bolted to the head. The wiring loom was dry rotten and the metal clamp chewed through my maf wiring.

After repairing the wiring I used a short peice of 3/4inch heater hose (sliced down middle) to protect my wiring harness from the clamp.

DaaanG first thing I see is that raggedy metal clip.. that Is a bad design. I’m gonna find a piece of heater hose for mine too

Thats the one. Might not be your problem, but worth a look. Strange, minde threw a P069e also.

Those wires should have been soldered and sealed with heat shrink tubing, that has the glue inside of it. That repair job isn't going to last and could possibly cause circuit low faults because of the crimped butt connectors, which could add resistance to that circuit. Not what you want on your MAF circuits.

Got it fixed. Thanks for the help guys. It was that fuse (F14U, in the X50A fuse box) I’ll post info.. and a little gem I ran across during my search. Thanks so much for the help.

Good eye, and good lookin out... but I’ll make it, my vve tables are beautiful. I could have thrown the maf in the trash, but then I’d have a hole in my intake tubing. 😂

This explains a lot. When i was scouring the internet trying to figure out why I blew that fuse, my search results seemed to have a common denominator...

BAPS. Boost a pumps injecting extra power into the fpcm probably blow that fuse occasionally. Maybe due to poor grounding or settings inside the BAP throwing too much juice. I dont know. But just about everyone that had a blown fuse was running a BAP.

Not your problem here, but good to know the FPCM uses the same fuse.

Just to promote solid info and clarity. I DO have a BAP on this vehicle. Like you said the BAP was as not my issue in this case, but it is present on the vehicle.
